tant mantar sabh a-ukhaDh jaaneh ant ta-oo marnaa. ||2||
those who know Tantras and mantras and all medicines - even they shall die in the end. ||2||

rwj Bog Aru CqR isMGwsn bhu suMdir rmnw ] (477-1)
raaj bhog ar chhatar singhaasan baho sundar ramnaa.
Those who enjoy regal power and rule, royal canopies and thrones, many beautiful women,

pwn kpUr subwsk cMdn AMiq qaU mrnw ]3] (477-2)
paan kapoor subaasak chandan ant ta-oo marnaa. ||3||
betel nuts, camphor and fragrant sandalwood oil - in the end, they too shall die. ||3||

bayd puraan simrit sabh khojay kahoo na oobarnaa.
I have searched all the Vedas, Puraanas and Simritees, but none of these can save anyone.

kaho kabeer i-o raameh jampa-o mayt janam marnaa. ||4||5||
Says Kabeer, meditate on the Lord, and eliminate birth and death. ||4||5||

feel rabaabee balad pakhaavaj ka-oo-aa taal bajaavai.
The elephant is the guitar player, the ox is the drummer, and the crow plays the cymbals.

pihir colnw gdhw nwcY BYsw Bgiq krwvY ]1] (477-4)
pahir cholnaa gadhaa naachai bhaisaa bhagat karaavai. ||1||
Putting on the skirt, the donkey dances around, and the water buffalo performs devotional worship. ||1||

raajaa raam kakree-aa baray pakaa-ay.
The Lord, the King, has cooked the cakes of ice,

iknY bUJnhwrY Kwey ]1] rhwau ] (477-5)
kinai boojhanhaarai khaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
but only the rare man of understanding eats them. ||1||Pause||

bYiT isMGu Gir pwn lgwvY GIs glaury ilAwvY ] (477-5)
baith singh ghar paan lagaavai ghees gal-uray li-aavai.
Sitting in his den, the lion prepares the betel leaves, and the muskrat brings the betel nuts.

Gir Gir musrI mMglu gwvih kCUAw sMKu bjwvY ]2] (477-6)
ghar ghar musree mangal gaavahi kachhoo-aa sankh bajaavai. ||2||
Going from house to house, the mouse sings the songs of joy, and the turtle blows on the conch-shell. ||2||

bMs ko pUqu bIAwhn cilAw suieny mMfp Cwey ] (477-6)
bans ko poot bee-aahan chali-aa su-inay mandap chhaa-ay.
The son of the sterile woman goes to get married, and the golden canopy is spread out for him.

rUp kMinAw suMdir byDI ssY isMG gun gwey ]3] (477-7)
roop kanniaa sundar bayDhee sasai singh gun gaa-ay. ||3||
He marries a beautiful and enticing young woman; the rabbit and the lion sing their praises. ||3||

khq kbIr sunhu ry sMqhu kItI prbqu KwieAw ] (477-7)
kahat kabeer sunhu ray santahu keetee parbat khaa-i-aa.
Says Kabeer, listen, O Saints - the ant has eaten the mountain.

kCUAw khY AMgwr iB lorau lUkI sbdu sunwieAw ]4]6] (477-8)
kachhoo-aa kahai angaar bhe lora-o lookee sabad sunaa-i-aa. ||4||6||
The turtle says, "I need a burning coal, also." Listen to this mystery of the Shabad. ||4||6||

btUAw eyku bhqir AwDwrI eyko ijsih duAwrw ] (477-9)
batoo-aa ayk bahtar aaDhaaree ayko jisahi du-aaraa.
The body is a bag with seventy-two chambers, and one opening, the Tenth Gate.

nvY KMf kI ipRQmI mwgY so jogI jig swrw ]1] (477-9)
navai khand kee parithmee maagai so jogee jag saaraa. ||1||
He alone is a real Yogi on this earth, who asks for the primal world of the nine regions. ||1||

AYsw jogI nau iniD pwvY ] (477-10)
aisaa jogee na-o niDh paavai.
Such a Yogi obtains the nine treasures.

ql kw bRhmu ly ggin crwvY ]1] rhwau ] (477-10)
tal kaa barahm lay gagan charaavai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
He lifts his soul up from below, to the skies of the Tenth Gate. ||1||Pause||

iKMQw igAwn iDAwn kir sUeI sbdu qwgw miQ GwlY ] (477-10)
khinthaa gi-aan Dhi-aan kar soo-ee sabad taagaa math ghaalai.
He makes spiritual wisdom his patched coat, and meditation his needle. He twists the thread of the Word of the Shabad.

panch tat kee kar mirgaanee gur kai maarag chaalai. ||2||
Making the five elements his deer skin to sit on, he walks on the Guru's Path. ||2||

dieAw PwhurI kwieAw kir DUeI idRsit kI Agin jlwvY ] (477-12)
da-i-aa faahuree kaa-i-aa kar Dhoo-ee darisat kee agan jalaavai.
He makes compassion his shovel, his body the firewood, and he kindles the fire of divine vision.

iqs kw Bwau ley ird AMqir chu jug qwVI lwvY ]3] (477-12)
tis kaa bhaa-o la-ay rid antar chahu jug taarhee laavai. ||3||
He places love within his heart, and he remains in deep meditation throughout the four ages. ||3||

sabh jogtan raam naam hai jis kaa pind paraanaa.
All Yoga is in the Name of the Lord; the body and the breath of life belong to Him.

khu kbIr jy ikrpw DwrY dyie scw nIswnw ]4]7] (477-13)
kaho kabeer jay kirpaa Dhaarai day-ay sachaa neesaanaa. ||4||7||
Says Kabeer, if God grants His Grace, He bestows the insignia of Truth. ||4||7||

hindoo turak kahaa tay aa-ay kin ayh raah chalaa-ee.
Where have the Hindus and Muslims come from? Who put them on their different paths?

idl mih soic ibcwir kvwdy iBsq dojk ikin pweI ]1] (477-14)
dil meh soch bichaar kavaaday bhisat dojak kin paa-ee. ||1||
Think of this, and contemplate it within your mind, O men of evil intentions. Who will go to heaven and hell? ||1||

kaajee tai kavan katayb bakhaanee.
O Qazi, which book have you read?

pVHq gunq AYsy sB mwry iknhUM Kbir n jwnI ]1] rhwau ] (477-15)
parhHat gunat aisay sabh maaray kinhooN khabar na jaanee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Such scholars and students have all died, and none of them have discovered the inner meaning. ||1||Pause||

skiq snyhu kir suMniq krIAY mY n bdaugw BweI ] (477-16)
sakat sanayhu kar sunat karee-ai mai na bad-ugaa bhaa-ee.
Because of the love of woman, circumcision is done; I don't believe in it, O Siblings of Destiny.

jau ry Kudwie moih qurku krYgw Awpn hI kit jweI ]2] (477-17)
ja-o ray khudaa-ay mohi turak karaigaa aapan hee kat jaa-ee. ||2||
If God wished me to be a Muslim, it would be cut off by itself. ||2||

suMniq kIey qurku jy hoiegw Aaurq kw ikAw krIAY ] (477-17)
sunat kee-ay turak jay ho-igaa a-urat kaa ki-aa karee-ai.
If circumcision makes one a Muslim, then what about a woman?

ArD srIrI nwir n CofY qw qy ihMdU hI rhIAY ]3] (477-18)
araDh sareeree naar na chhodai taa tay hindoo hee rahee-ai. ||3||
She is the other half of a man's body, and she does not leave him, so he remains a Hindu. ||3||

Cwif kqyb rwmu Bju baury julm krq hY BwrI ] (477-18)
chhaad katayb raam bhaj ba-uray julam karat hai bhaaree.
Give up your holy books, and remember the Lord, you fool, and stop oppressing others so badly.

kbIrY pkrI tyk rwm kI qurk rhy pichwrI ]4]8] (477-19)
kabeerai pakree tayk raam kee turak rahay pachihaaree. ||4||8||
Kabeer has grasped hold of the Lord's Support, and the Muslims have utterly failed. ||4||8||
