O Nanak, obtains the Naam; his mind is pleased and appeased. ||4||1||

Dhanaasaree, Third Mehl:

hir nwmu Dnu inrmlu Aiq Apwrw ] (664-1)
har naam Dhan nirmal at apaaraa.
The wealth of the Lord's Name is immaculate, and absolutely infinite.

gur kY sbid Bry BMfwrw ] (664-2)
gur kai sabad bharay bhandaaraa.
The Word of the Guru's Shabad is over-flowing with treasure.

nwm Dn ibnu hor sB ibKu jwxu ] (664-2)
naam Dhan bin hor sabh bikh jaan.
Know that, except for the wealth of the Name, all other wealth is poison.

mwieAw moih jlY AiBmwnu ]1] (664-2)
maa-i-aa mohi jalai abhimaan. ||1||
The egotistical people are burning in their attachment to Maya. ||1||

gurmuiK hir rsu cwKY koie ] (664-3)
gurmukh har ras chaakhai ko-ay.
How rare is that Gurmukh who tastes the sublime essence of the Lord.

iqsu sdw Anµdu hovY idnu rwqI pUrY Bwig prwpiq hoie ] rhwau ] (664-3)
tis sadaa anand hovai din raatee poorai bhaag paraapat ho-ay. rahaa-o.
He is always in bliss, day and night; through perfect good destiny, he obtains the Name. ||Pause||

sbdu dIpku vrqY iqhu loie ] (664-4)
sabad deepak vartai tihu lo-ay.
The Word of the Shabad is a lamp, illuminating the three worlds.

jo cwKY so inrmlu hoie ] (664-4)
jo chaakhai so nirmal ho-ay.
One who tastes it, becomes immaculate.

inrml nwim haumY mlu Doie ] (664-4)
nirmal naam ha-umai mal Dho-ay.
The immaculate Naam, the Name of the Lord, washes off the filth of ego.

swcI Bgiq sdw suKu hoie ]2] (664-5)
saachee bhagat sadaa sukh ho-ay. ||2||
True devotional worship brings lasting peace. ||2||

ijin hir rsu cwiKAw so hir jnu logu ] (664-5)
jin har ras chaakhi-aa so har jan log.
One who tastes the sublime essence of the Lord is the Lord's humble servant.

iqsu sdw hrKu nwhI kdy sogu ] (664-5)
tis sadaa harakh naahee kaday sog.
He is forever happy; he is never sad.

Awip mukqu Avrw mukqu krwvY ] (664-6)
aap mukat avraa mukat karaavai.
He himself is liberated, and he liberates others as well.

hir nwmu jpY hir qy suKu pwvY ]3] (664-6)
har naam japai har tay sukh paavai. ||3||
He chants the Lord's Name, and through the Lord, he finds peace. ||3||

ibnu siqgur sB mueI ibllwie ] (664-6)
bin satgur sabh mu-ee billaa-ay.
Without the True Guru, everyone dies, crying out in pain.

Anidnu dwJih swiq n pwie ] (664-7)
an-din daajheh saat na paa-ay.
Night and day, they burn, and find no peace.

siqguru imlY sBu iqRsn buJwey ] (664-7)
satgur milai sabh tarisan bujhaa-ay.
But meeting the True Guru, all thirst is quenched.

naanak naam saaNt sukh paa-ay. ||4||2||
O Nanak, through the Naam, one finds peace and tranquility. ||4||2||

sadaa Dhan antar naam samaalay.
Gather in and cherish forever the wealth of the Lord's Name, deep within;

jee-a jant jineh partipaalay.
He cherishes and nurtures all beings and creatures.

mukiq pdwrQu iqn kau pwey ] (664-9)
mukat padaarath tin ka-o paa-ay.
They alone obtain the treasure of Liberation,

hir kY nwim rqy ilv lwey ]1] (664-9)
har kai naam ratay liv laa-ay. ||1||
who are lovingly imbued with, and focused on the Lord's Name. ||1||

gur syvw qy hir nwmu Dnu pwvY ] (664-9)
gur sayvaa tay har naam Dhan paavai.
Serving the Guru, one obtains the wealth of the Lord's Name.

AMqir prgwsu hir nwmu iDAwvY ] rhwau ] (664-10)
antar pargaas har naam Dhi-aavai. rahaa-o.
He is illumined and enlightened within, and he meditates on the Lord's Name. ||Pause||

iehu hir rMgu gUVw Dn ipr hoie ] (664-10)
ih har rang goorhaa Dhan pir ho-ay.
This love for the Lord is like the love of the bride for her husband.

sWiq sIgwru rwvy pRBu soie ] (664-11)
saaNt seegaar raavay parabh so-ay.
God ravishes and enjoys the soul-bride who is adorned with peace and tranquility.

haumY ivic pRBu koie n pwey ] (664-11)
ha-umai vich parabh ko-ay na paa-ay.
No one finds God through egotism.

mUlhu Bulw jnmu gvwey ]2] (664-11)
moolhu bhulaa janam gavaa-ay. ||2||
Wandering away from the Primal Lord, the root of all, one wastes his life in vain. ||2||

gur qy swiq shj suKu bwxI ] (664-11)
gur tay saat sahj sukh banee.
Tranquility, celestial peace, pleasure and the Word of His Bani come from the Guru.

syvw swcI nwim smwxI ] (664-12)
sayvaa saachee naam samaanee.
True is that service, which leads one to merge in the Naam.

sbid imlY pRIqmu sdw iDAwey ] (664-12)
sabad milai pareetam sadaa Dhi-aa-ay.
Blessed with the Word of the Shabad, he meditates forever on the Lord, the Beloved.

swc nwim vifAweI pwey ]3] (664-12)
saach naam vadi-aa-ee paa-ay. ||3||
Through the True Name, glorious greatness is obtained. ||3||

Awpy krqw juig juig soie ] (664-13)
aapay kartaa jug jug so-ay.
The Creator Himself abides throughout the ages.

ndir kry mylwvw hoie ] (664-13)
nadar karay maylaavaa ho-ay.
If He casts His Glance of Grace, then we meet Him.

gurbwxI qy hir mMin vswey ] (664-13)
gurbaanee tay har man vasaa-ay.
Through the Word of Gurbani, the Lord comes to dwell in the mind.

nwnk swic rqy pRiB Awip imlwey ]4]3] (664-14)
naanak saach ratay parabh aap milaa-ay. ||4||3||
O Nanak, God unites with Himself those who are imbued with Truth. ||4||3||

Dhanaasaree, Third Mehl:

jgu mYlw mYlo hoie jwie ] (664-14)
jag mailaa mailo ho-ay jaa-ay.
The world is polluted, and those in the world become polluted as well.

AwvY jwie dUjY loBwie ] (664-15)
aavai jaa-ay doojai lobhaa-ay.
In attachment to duality, it comes and goes.

dUjY Bwie sB prj ivgoeI ] (664-15)
doojai bhaa-ay sabh paraj vigo-ee.
This love of duality has ruined the entire world.

mnmuiK cotw Kwie ApunI piq KoeI ]1] (664-15)
manmukh chotaa khaa-ay apunee pat kho-ee. ||1||
The self-willed manmukh suffers punishment, and forfeits his honor. ||1||

gur syvw qy jnu inrmlu hoie ] (664-16)
gur sayvaa tay jan nirmal ho-ay.
Serving the Guru, one becomes immaculate.

AMqir nwmu vsY piq aUqm hoie ] rhwau ] (664-16)
antar naam vasai pat ootam ho-ay. rahaa-o.
He enshrines the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within, and his state becomes exalted. ||Pause||

gurmuiK aubry hir srxweI ] (664-16)
gurmukh ubray har sarnaa-ee.
The Gurmukhs are saved, taking to the Lord's Sanctuary.

rwm nwim rwqy Bgiq idRVweI ] (664-17)
raam naam raatay bhagat darirhaa-ee.
Attuned to the Lord's Name, they commit themselves to devotional worship.

Bgiq kry jnu vifAweI pwey ] (664-17)
bhagat karay jan vadi-aa-ee paa-ay.
The Lord's humble servant performs devotional worship, and is blessed with greatness.

swic rqy suK shij smwey ]2] (664-17)
saach ratay sukh sahj samaa-ay. ||2||
Attuned to Truth, he is absorbed in celestial peace. ||2||

swcy kw gwhku ivrlw ko jwxu ] (664-18)
saachay kaa gaahak virlaa ko jaan.
Know that one who purchases the True Name is very rare.

gur kY sbid Awpu pCwxu ] (664-18)
gur kai sabad aap pachhaan.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, he comes to understand himself.

swcI rwis swcw vwpwru ] (664-18)
saachee raas saachaa vaapaar.
True is his capital, and true is his trade.

so DMnu purKu ijsu nwim ipAwru ]3] (664-19)
so Dhan purakh jis naam pi-aar. ||3||
Blessed is that person, who loves the Naam. ||3||

iqin pRiB swcY ieik sic lwey ] (664-19)
tin parabh saachai ik sach laa-ay.
God, the True Lord, has attached some to His True Name.

aUqm bwxI sbdu suxwey ] (664-19)
ootam banee sabad sunaa-ay.
They listen to the most sublime Word of His Bani, and the Word of His Shabad.
