ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਹੁ ਰੇ ਜਨ ਭਾਈ ॥ हरि धनु संचहु रे जन भाई ॥ Har ḋʰan sanchahu ré jan bʰaa▫ee. Gather in the wealth of the Lord, O humble Siblings of Destiny. ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ मारू महला १ ॥ Maaroo mėhlaa 1. Maaroo, First Mehl: ਤਸਕਰੁ ਚੋਰੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਧੁਨਿ ਉਪਜੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਗਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ तसकरु चोरु न लागै ता कउ धुनि उपजै सबदि जगाइआ ॥१॥ Ṫaskar chor na laagæ ṫaa ka▫o ḋʰun upjæ sabaḋ jagaa▫i▫aa. ||1|| This wealth cannot be stolen; the celestial melody of the Shabad wells up and keeps us awake and aware. ||1|| ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਿ ਰਹਹੁ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥ सतिगुर सेवि रहहु सरणाई ॥ Saṫgur sév rahhu sarṇaa▫ee. Serve the True Guru, and remain in His Sanctuary. ਤੂ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ਨਿਰਾਲਮੁ ਰਾਜਾ ॥ तू एकंकारु निरालमु राजा ॥ Ṫoo ékankaar niraalam raajaa. You are the One Universal Creator, the Immaculate King. ਤੂ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰਹਿ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਕਾਜਾ ॥ तू आपि सवारहि जन के काजा ॥ Ṫoo aap savaarėh jan ké kaajaa. You Yourself arrange and resolve the affairs of Your humble servant. ਅਮਰੁ ਅਡੋਲੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਅਮੋਲਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਅਸਥਿਰ ਥਾਨਿ ਸੁਹਾਇਆ ॥੨॥ अमरु अडोलु अपारु अमोलकु हरि असथिर थानि सुहाइआ ॥२॥ Amar adol apaar amolak har asṫʰir ṫʰaan suhaa▫i▫aa. ||2|| You are immortal, immovable, infinite and priceless; O Lord, Your place is beautiful and eternal. ||2|| ਦੇਹੀ ਨਗਰੀ ਊਤਮ ਥਾਨਾ ॥ देही नगरी ऊतम थाना ॥ Ḋéhee nagree ooṫam ṫʰaanaa. In the body-village, the most sublime place, ਪੰਚ ਲੋਕ ਵਸਹਿ ਪਰਧਾਨਾ ॥ पंच लोक वसहि परधाना ॥ Panch lok vasėh parḋʰaanaa. the supremely noble people dwell. ਊਪਰਿ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ਨਿਰਾਲਮੁ ਸੁੰਨ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਲਗਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ ऊपरि एकंकारु निरालमु सुंन समाधि लगाइआ ॥३॥ Oopar ékankaar niraalam sunn samaaḋʰ lagaa▫i▫aa. ||3|| Above them is the Immaculate Lord, the One Universal Creator; they are lovingly absorbed in the profound, primal state of Samadhi. ||3|| ਦੇਹੀ ਨਗਰੀ ਨਉ ਦਰਵਾਜੇ ॥ देही नगरी नउ दरवाजे ॥ Ḋéhee nagree na▫o ḋarvaajé. There are nine gates to the body-village; ਸਿਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੈ ਸਾਜੇ ॥ सिरि सिरि करणैहारै साजे ॥ Sir sir karṇæhaaræ saajé. the Creator Lord fashioned them for each and every person. ਦਸਵੈ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਤੀਤੁ ਨਿਰਾਲਾ ਆਪੇ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਇਆ ॥੪॥ दसवै पुरखु अतीतु निराला आपे अलखु लखाइआ ॥४॥ Ḋasvæ purakʰ aṫeeṫ niraalaa aapé alakʰ lakʰaa▫i▫aa. ||4|| Within the Tenth Gate, dwells the Primal Lord, detached and unequaled, where the unknowable reveals Himself. ||4|| ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਲੇਖੁ ਸਚੇ ਦੀਵਾਨਾ ॥ पुरखु अलेखु सचे दीवाना ॥ Purakʰ alékʰ saché ḋeevaanaa. The Primal Lord cannot be held to account; True is His Celestial Court. ਹੁਕਮਿ ਚਲਾਏ ਸਚੁ ਨੀਸਾਨਾ ॥ हुकमि चलाए सचु नीसाना ॥ Hukam chalaa▫é sach neesaanaa. The Hukam of His Command is in effect; True is His Insignia. ਨਾਨਕ ਖੋਜਿ ਲਹਹੁ ਘਰੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੫॥ नानक खोजि लहहु घरु अपना हरि आतम राम नामु पाइआ ॥५॥ Naanak kʰoj lahhu gʰar apnaa har aaṫam raam naam paa▫i▫aa. ||5|| O Nanak! Search and examine your own home, and you shall find the Supreme Soul, and the Name of the Lord. ||5|| ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਨਾ ॥ सरब निरंजन पुरखु सुजाना ॥ Sarab niranjan purakʰ sujaanaa. The Primal Lord is everywhere, immaculate and all-knowing. ਅਦਲੁ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥ अदलु करे गुर गिआन समाना ॥ Aḋal karé gur gi▫aan samaanaa. He administers justice, and is absorbed in the spiritual wisdom of the Guru. ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੈ ਗਰਦਨਿ ਮਾਰੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਲੋਭੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥੬॥ कामु क्रोधु लै गरदनि मारे हउमै लोभु चुकाइआ ॥६॥ Kaam kroḋʰ læ garḋan maaré ha▫umæ lobʰ chukaa▫i▫aa. ||6|| He seizes sexual desire and anger by their necks, and kills them; He eradicates egotism and greed. ||6|| ਸਚੈ ਥਾਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰਾ ॥ सचै थानि वसै निरंकारा ॥ Sachæ ṫʰaan vasæ nirankaaraa. In the True Place, the Formless Lord abides. ਆਪਿ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥ आपि पछाणै सबदु वीचारा ॥ Aap pachʰaaṇæ sabaḋ veechaaraa. Whoever understands his own self, contemplates the Word of the Shabad. ਸਚੈ ਮਹਲਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥੭॥ सचै महलि निवासु निरंतरि आवण जाणु चुकाइआ ॥७॥ Sachæ mahal nivaas niranṫar aavaṇ jaaṇ chukaa▫i▫aa. ||7|| He comes to abide deep within the True Mansion of His Presence, and his comings and goings are ended. ||7|| ਨਾ ਮਨੁ ਚਲੈ ਨ ਪਉਣੁ ਉਡਾਵੈ ॥ ना मनु चलै न पउणु उडावै ॥ Naa man chalæ na pa▫uṇ udaavæ. His mind does not waver, and he is not buffeted by the winds of desire. ਜੋਗੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਨਾਹਦੁ ਵਾਵੈ ॥ जोगी सबदु अनाहदु वावै ॥ Jogee sabaḋ anaahaḋ vaavæ. Such a Yogi vibrates the unstruck sound current of the Shabad. ਪੰਚ ਸਬਦ ਝੁਣਕਾਰੁ ਨਿਰਾਲਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪੇ ਵਾਇ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ ॥੮॥ पंच सबद झुणकारु निरालमु प्रभि आपे वाइ सुणाइआ ॥८॥ Panch sabaḋ jʰuṇkaar niraalam parabʰ aapé vaa▫é suṇaa▫i▫aa. ||8|| God Himself plays the pure music of the Panch Shabad, the five primal sounds to hear. ||8|| ਭਉ ਬੈਰਾਗਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਤਾ ॥ भउ बैरागा सहजि समाता ॥ Bʰa▫o bæraagaa sahj samaaṫaa. In the Fear of God, in detachment, one intuitively merges into the Lord. ਹਉਮੈ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਅਨਹਦਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥ हउमै तिआगी अनहदि राता ॥ Ha▫umæ ṫi▫aagee anhaḋ raaṫaa. Renouncing egotism, he is imbued with the unstruck sound current. ਅੰਜਨੁ ਸਾਰਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਰਾਇਆ ॥੯॥ अंजनु सारि निरंजनु जाणै सरब निरंजनु राइआ ॥९॥ Anjan saar niranjan jaaṇæ sarab niranjan raa▫i▫aa. ||9|| With the ointment of enlightenment, the Immaculate Lord is known; the Immaculate Lord King is pervading everywhere. ||9|| ਦੁਖ ਭੈ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥ दुख भै भंजनु प्रभु अबिनासी ॥ Ḋukʰ bʰæ bʰanjan parabʰ abʰinaasee. God is eternal and imperishable; He is the Destroyer of pain and fear. ਰੋਗ ਕਟੇ ਕਾਟੀ ਜਮ ਫਾਸੀ ॥ रोग कटे काटी जम फासी ॥ Rog katé kaatee jam faasee. He cures the disease, and cuts away the noose of death. ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋ ਭਉ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧੦॥ नानक हरि प्रभु सो भउ भंजनु गुरि मिलिऐ हरि प्रभु पाइआ ॥१०॥ Naanak har parabʰ so bʰa▫o bʰanjan gur mili▫æ har parabʰ paa▫i▫aa. ||10|| O Nanak! The Lord God is the Destroyer of fear; meeting the Guru, the Lord God is found. ||10|| ਕਾਲੈ ਕਵਲੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਜਾਣੈ ॥ कालै कवलु निरंजनु जाणै ॥ Kaalæ kaval niranjan jaaṇæ. One who knows the Immaculate Lord chews up death. ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣੈ ਆਪਿ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਚੋਜੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥੧੧॥ आपे जाणै आपि पछाणै सभु तिस का चोजु सबाइआ ॥११॥ Aapé jaaṇæ aap pachʰaaṇæ sabʰ ṫis kaa choj sabaa▫i▫aa. ||11|| He Himself knows, and He Himself realizes. This whole world is all His play. ||11|| ਬੂਝੈ ਕਰਮੁ ਸੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥ बूझै करमु सु सबदु पछाणै ॥ Boojʰæ karam so sabaḋ pachʰaaṇæ. One who understands karma, realizes the Word of the Shabad. ਆਪੇ ਸਾਹੁ ਆਪੇ ਵਣਜਾਰਾ ॥ आपे साहु आपे वणजारा ॥ Aapé saahu aapé vaṇjaaraa. He Himself is the Banker, and He Himself is the Merchant. ਆਪੇ ਪਰਖੇ ਪਰਖਣਹਾਰਾ ॥ आपे परखे परखणहारा ॥ Aapé parkʰé parkʰaṇhaaraa. The Appraiser Himself appraises. ਆਪੇ ਕਸਿ ਕਸਵਟੀ ਲਾਏ ਆਪੇ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧੨॥ आपे कसि कसवटी लाए आपे कीमति पाइआ ॥१२॥ Aapé kas kasvatee laa▫é aapé keemaṫ paa▫i▫aa. ||12|| He Himself tests upon His Touchstone, and He Himself estimates the value. ||12|| ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲਿ ਦਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਧਾਰੀ ॥ आपि दइआलि दइआ प्रभि धारी ॥ Aap ḋa▫i▫aal ḋa▫i▫aa parabʰ ḋʰaaree. God Himself, the Merciful Lord, grants His Grace. ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥ घटि घटि रवि रहिआ बनवारी ॥ Gʰat gʰat rav rahi▫aa banvaaree. The Gardener pervades and permeates each and every heart. ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਤੀਤੁ ਵਸੈ ਨਿਹਕੇਵਲੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੁਰਖੈ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੧੩॥ पुरखु अतीतु वसै निहकेवलु गुर पुरखै पुरखु मिलाइआ ॥१३॥ Purakʰ aṫeeṫ vasæ nihkéval gur purkʰæ purakʰ milaa▫i▫aa. ||13|| The pure, primal, detached Lord abides within all. The Guru, the Lord Incarnate, leads us to meet the Lord God. ||13|| ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਾਨਾ ਬੀਨਾ ਗਰਬੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥ प्रभु दाना बीना गरबु गवाए ॥ Parabʰ ḋaanaa beenaa garab gavaa▫é. God is wise and all-knowing; He purges men of their pride. ਦੂਜਾ ਮੇਟੈ ਏਕੁ ਦਿਖਾਏ ॥ दूजा मेटै एकु दिखाए ॥ Ḋoojaa métæ ék ḋikʰaa▫é. Eradicating duality, the One Lord reveals Himself. ਆਸਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਰਾਲਮੁ ਜੋਨੀ ਅਕੁਲ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੧੪॥ आसा माहि निरालमु जोनी अकुल निरंजनु गाइआ ॥१४॥ Aasaa maahi niraalam jonee akul niranjan gaa▫i▫aa. ||14|| Such a being remains unattached amidst hope, singing the Praise of the Immaculate Lord, who has no ancestry. ||14|| ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਟਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥ हउमै मेटि सबदि सुखु होई ॥ Ha▫umæ mét sabaḋ sukʰ ho▫ee. Eradicating egotism, he obtains the peace of the Shabad. ਆਪੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸੋਈ ॥ आपु वीचारे गिआनी सोई ॥ Aap veechaaré gi▫aanee so▫ee. He alone is spiritually wise, who contemplates his own self. ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਲਾਹਾ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧੫॥੨॥੧੯॥ नानक हरि जसु हरि गुण लाहा सतसंगति सचु फलु पाइआ ॥१५॥२॥१९॥ Naanak har jas har guṇ laahaa saṫsangaṫ sach fal paa▫i▫aa. ||15||2||19|| O Nanak! Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, the true profit is obtained; in the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, the fruit of Truth is obtained. ||15||2||19|| ਸਚੁ ਕਹਹੁ ਸਚੈ ਘਰਿ ਰਹਣਾ ॥ सचु कहहु सचै घरि रहणा ॥ Sach kahhu sachæ gʰar rahṇaa. Speak the Truth, and remain in the home of Truth.
