ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਸੇਵਿਹੁ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਾ ॥ सो सचु सेविहु सिरजणहारा ॥ So sach sévihu sirjaṇhaaraa. Serve the True Creator Lord. ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ मारू महला ३ ॥ Maaroo mėhlaa 3. Maaroo, Third Mehl: ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈ ਆਪੇ ਅਗਮ ਅਥਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥ अगमु अगोचरु कीमति नही पाई आपे अगम अथाहा हे ॥१॥ Agam agochar keemaṫ nahee paa▫ee aapé agam aṫʰaahaa hé. ||1|| He is inaccessible and unfathomable; He cannot be evaluated. He Himself is inaccessible and immeasurable. ||1|| ਸਬਦੇ ਦੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥ सबदे दूख निवारणहारा ॥ Sabḋé ḋookʰ nivaaraṇhaaraa. The Word of the Shabad is the Destroyer of pain. ਆਪੇ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਵਰਤਾਏ ॥ आपे सचा सचु वरताए ॥ Aapé sachaa sach varṫaa▫é. The True Lord Himself makes Truth pervasive. ਸਾਚੋ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੨॥ साचो सेवहि साचु कमावहि नामे सचि समाहा हे ॥२॥ Saacho sévėh saach kamaavėh naamé sach samaahaa hé. ||2|| They serve the True Lord and practice Truth; through the Name, they are absorbed in the True Lord. ||2|| ਇਕਿ ਜਨ ਸਾਚੈ ਆਪੇ ਲਾਏ ॥ इकि जन साचै आपे लाए ॥ Ik jan saachæ aapé laa▫é. He attaches some humble beings to the Truth. ਧੁਰਿ ਭਗਤਾ ਮੇਲੇ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ धुरि भगता मेले आपि मिलाए ॥ Ḋʰur bʰagṫaa mélé aap milaa▫é. The Primal Lord unites His devotees in His Union. ਸਚੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਆਪੇ ਲਾਏ ॥ सची भगती आपे लाए ॥ Sachee bʰagṫee aapé laa▫é. He attaches them to true devotional worship. ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਇਸੁ ਜਨਮੈ ਕਾ ਲਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੩॥ साची बाणी सदा गुण गावै इसु जनमै का लाहा हे ॥३॥ Saachee baṇee saḋaa guṇ gaavæ is janmæ kaa laahaa hé. ||3|| One who sings forever the Glorious Praises of the Lord, through the True Word of His Bani, earns the profit of this life. ||3|| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਣਜੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਪਰੁ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ॥ गुरमुखि वणजु करहि परु आपु पछाणहि ॥ Gurmukʰ vaṇaj karahi par aap pachʰaaṇėh. The Gurmukh trades, and understands his own self. ਏਕਸ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਹਿ ॥ एकस बिनु को अवरु न जाणहि ॥ Ékas bin ko avar na jaaṇėh. He knows no other than the One Lord. ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹੁ ਸਚੇ ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੪॥ सचा साहु सचे वणजारे पूंजी नामु विसाहा हे ॥४॥ Sachaa saahu saché vaṇjaaré poonjee naam visaahaa hé. ||4|| True is the banker, and True are His traders, who buy the merchandise of the Naam. ||4|| ਆਪੇ ਸਾਜੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਏ ॥ आपे साजे स्रिसटि उपाए ॥ Aapé saajé sarisat upaa▫é. He Himself fashions and creates the Universe. ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕਉ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥ विरले कउ गुर सबदु बुझाए ॥ virlé ka▫o gur sabaḋ bujʰaa▫é. He inspires a few to realize the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸਾਚੇ ਕਾਟੇ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਫਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੫॥ सतिगुरु सेवहि से जन साचे काटे जम का फाहा हे ॥५॥ Saṫgur sévėh sé jan saaché kaaté jam kaa faahaa hé. ||5|| Those humble beings who serve the True Guru are true. He snaps the noose of death from around their necks. ||5|| ਭੰਨੈ ਘੜੇ ਸਵਾਰੇ ਸਾਜੇ ॥ भंनै घड़े सवारे साजे ॥ Bʰannæ gʰaṛé savaaré saajé. He destroys, creates, embellishes and fashions all beings, ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਜੰਤ ਪਾਜੇ ॥ माइआ मोहि दूजै जंत पाजे ॥ Maa▫i▫aa mohi ḋoojæ janṫ paajé. and attaches them to duality, attachment and Maya. ਮਨਮੁਖ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਅੰਧੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਜੇਵੜਾ ਗਲਿ ਫਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੬॥ मनमुख फिरहि सदा अंधु कमावहि जम का जेवड़ा गलि फाहा हे ॥६॥ Manmukʰ firėh saḋaa anḋʰ kamaavėh jam kaa jévṛaa gal faahaa hé. ||6|| The self-willed Manmukhs wander around forever, acting blindly. Death has strung his noose around their necks. ||6|| ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਸਾਚਾ ਇਸੁ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਲਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੭॥ अनदिनु नामु धिआए साचा इसु जग महि नामो लाहा हे ॥७॥ An▫ḋin naam ḋʰi▫aa▫é saachaa is jag mėh naamo laahaa hé. ||7|| Night and day, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the True Lord, and earn the profit of the Naam in this world. ||7|| ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਏ ॥ आपे बखसे गुर सेवा लाए ॥ Aapé bakʰsé gur sévaa laa▫é. He Himself forgives, and enjoins us to serve the Guru. ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥ गुरमती नामु मंनि वसाए ॥ Gurmaṫee naam man vasaa▫é. Through the Guru’s Teachings, the Naam comes to dwell within the mind. ਆਪੇ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੀ ਨਾਈ ॥ आपे सचा सची नाई ॥ Aapé sachaa sachee naa▫ee. He Himself is True, and True is His Name. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇਵੈ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥ गुरमुखि देवै मंनि वसाई ॥ Gurmukʰ ḋévæ man vasaa▫ee. The Gurmukh bestows it, and enshrines it within the mind. ਜਿਨ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਸਿਰਿ ਚੂਕਾ ਕਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੮॥ जिन मनि वसिआ से जन सोहहि तिन सिरि चूका काहा हे ॥८॥ Jin man vasi▫aa sé jan sohėh ṫin sir chookaa kaahaa hé. ||8|| Noble and exalted are those, within whose mind the Lord abides. Their heads are free of strife. ||8|| ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈ ॥ अगम अगोचरु कीमति नही पाई ॥ Agam agochar keemaṫ nahee paa▫ee. He is inaccessible and unfathomable; His value cannot be appraised. ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥ गुर परसादी मंनि वसाई ॥ Gur parsaadee man vasaa▫ee. By Guru’s Grace, He dwells within the mind. ਸਦਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਗੁਣਦਾਤਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੰਗੈ ਤਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੯॥ सदा सबदि सालाही गुणदाता लेखा कोइ न मंगै ताहा हे ॥९॥ Saḋaa sabaḋ saalaahee guṇḋaaṫaa lékʰaa ko▫é na mangæ ṫaahaa hé. ||9|| No one calls that person to account, who praises the Word of the Shabad, the Giver of virtue. ||9|| ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਰੁਦ੍ਰੁ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ॥ ब्रहमा बिसनु रुद्रु तिस की सेवा ॥ Barahmaa bisan ruḋar ṫis kee sévaa. Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva serve Him. ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੂ ਅਪਣੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥ जिन कउ नदरि करहि तू अपणी गुरमुखि अलखु लखाहा हे ॥१०॥ Jin ka▫o naḋar karahi ṫoo apṇee gurmukʰ alakʰ lakʰaahaa hé. ||10|| Those who are blessed by Your Glance of Grace, become Gurmukh, and comprehend the incomprehensible. ||10|| ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵਾ ॥ अंतु न पावहि अलख अभेवा ॥ Anṫ na paavahi alakʰ abʰévaa. Even they cannot find the limits of the unseen, unknowable Lord. ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥ पूरै सतिगुरि सोझी पाई ॥ Pooræ saṫgur sojʰee paa▫ee. The Perfect True Guru has imparted this understanding. ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥ एको नामु मंनि वसाई ॥ Éko naam man vasaa▫ee. I have enshrined the Naam, the One Name, within my mind. ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੀ ਤੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥ नामु जपी तै नामु धिआई महलु पाइ गुण गाहा हे ॥११॥ Naam japee ṫæ naam ḋʰi▫aa▫ee mahal paa▫é guṇ gaahaa hé. ||11|| I chant the Naam, and meditate on the Naam. Singing His Glorious Praises, I enter the Mansion of the Lord’s Presence. ||11|| ਸੇਵਕ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥ सेवक सेवहि मंनि हुकमु अपारा ॥ Sévak sévėh man hukam apaaraa. The servant serves, and obeys the Command of the Infinite Lord. ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਸਾਰਾ ॥ मनमुख हुकमु न जाणहि सारा ॥ Manmukʰ hukam na jaaṇėh saaraa. The self-willed Manmukhs do not know the value of the Lord’s Command. ਹੁਕਮੇ ਮੰਨੇ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥ हुकमे मंने हुकमे वडिआई हुकमे वेपरवाहा हे ॥१२॥ Hukmé manné hukmé vadi▫aa▫ee hukmé véparvaahaa hé. ||12|| By the Hukam of the Lord’s Command, one is exalted; by His Hukam, one is glorified; by His Hukam, one becomes carefree. ||12|| ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥ गुर परसादी हुकमु पछाणै ॥ Gur parsaadee hukam pachʰaaṇæ. By Guru’s Grace, one recognizes the Lord’s Hukam. ਧਾਵਤੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਇਕਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਣੈ ॥ धावतु राखै इकतु घरि आणै ॥ Ḋʰaavaṫ raakʰæ ikaṫ gʰar aaṇæ. The wandering mind is restrained, and brought back to the home of the One Lord. ਨਾਮੇ ਰਾਤਾ ਸਦਾ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਮਨਿ ਤਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥ नामे राता सदा बैरागी नामु रतनु मनि ताहा हे ॥१३॥ Naamé raaṫaa saḋaa bæraagee naam raṫan man ṫaahaa hé. ||13|| Imbued with the Naam, one remains forever detached; the jewel of the Naam rests within the mind. ||13|| ਸਭ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਈ ॥ सभ जग महि वरतै एको सोई ॥ Sabʰ jag mėh varṫæ éko so▫ee. The One Lord is pervasive throughout all the world. ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਈ ॥ गुर परसादी परगटु होई ॥ Gur parsaadee pargat ho▫ee. By Guru’s Grace, He is revealed. ਸਬਦੁ ਸਲਾਹਹਿ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਤਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥ सबदु सलाहहि से जन निरमल निज घरि वासा ताहा हे ॥१४॥ Sabaḋ salaahėh sé jan nirmal nij gʰar vaasaa ṫaahaa hé. ||14|| Those humble beings who praise the Shabad are immaculate; they dwell within the home of their own inner self. ||14|| ਸਦਾ ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥ सदा भगत तेरी सरणाई ॥ Saḋaa bʰagaṫ ṫéree sarṇaa▫ee. The devotees abide forever in Your Sanctuary, Lord. ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈ ॥ अगम अगोचर कीमति नही पाई ॥ Agam agochar keemaṫ nahee paa▫ee. You are inaccessible and unfathomable; Your value cannot be estimated. ਜਿਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਤਿਉ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥ जिउ तुधु भावहि तिउ तू राखहि गुरमुखि नामु धिआहा हे ॥१५॥ Ji▫o ṫuḋʰ bʰaavėh ṫi▫o ṫoo raakʰahi gurmukʰ naam ḋʰi▫aahaa hé. ||15|| As it pleases Your Will, You keep us; the Gurmukh meditates on the Naam. ||15|| ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ॥ सदा सदा तेरे गुण गावा ॥ Saḋaa saḋaa ṫéré guṇ gaavaa. Forever and ever, I sing Your Glorious Praises. ਸਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵਾ ॥ सचे साहिब तेरै मनि भावा ॥ Saché saahib ṫéræ man bʰaavaa. O my True Lord and Master, may I become pleasing to Your Mind. ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਹੈ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਸਚੁ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੧॥੧੦॥ नानकु साचु कहै बेनंती सचु देवहु सचि समाहा हे ॥१६॥१॥१०॥ Naanak saach kahæ bénanṫee sach ḋévhu sach samaahaa hé. ||16||1||10|| Nanak offers this true prayer: O Lord, please bless me with Truth, so that I may merge in the Truth. ||16||1||10|| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥ सतिगुरु सेवनि से वडभागी ॥ Saṫgur sévan sé vadbʰaagee. Those who serve the True Guru are very fortunate.
