ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਰੋਗੀ ਰੋਗੀ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥ मनमुखि दुबिधा सदा है रोगी रोगी सगल संसारा ॥ Manmukʰ ḋubiḋʰaa saḋaa hæ rogee rogee sagal sansaaraa. The self-willed Manmukh is afflicted with the disease of duality forever; the entire universe is diseased. ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ भैरउ महला ३ ॥ Bʰæro mėhlaa 3. Bhairao, Third Mehl: ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮੇਲਾਇ ॥ हरि जीउ सतसंगति मेलाइ ॥ Har jee▫o saṫsangaṫ mélaa▫é. O Dear Lord, please let me join the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਦੇਇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜੋ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ नानक तिस नो देइ वडिआई जो राम नामि चितु लाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Naanak ṫis no ḋé▫é vadi▫aa▫ee jo raam naam chiṫ laa▫é. ||1|| rahaa▫o. O Nanak! The Lord blesses with glorious greatness, those who focus their consciousness on the Lord’s Name. ||1||Pause|| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਵਾਵਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ गुरमुखि बूझहि रोगु गवावहि गुर सबदी वीचारा ॥१॥ Gurmukʰ boojʰėh rog gavaavėh gur sabḋee veechaaraa. ||1|| The Gurmukh understands, and is cured of the disease, contemplating the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. ||1|| ਮਮਤਾ ਕਾਲਿ ਸਭਿ ਰੋਗਿ ਵਿਆਪੇ ਤਿਨ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਹੈ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਾਰਾ ॥ ममता कालि सभि रोगि विआपे तिन जम की है सिरि कारा ॥ Mamṫaa kaal sabʰ rog vi▫aapé ṫin jam kee hæ sir kaaraa. Death takes all those who are afflicted with the disease of possessiveness. They are subject to the Messenger of Death. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਜਮੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਾ ॥੨॥ गुरमुखि प्राणी जमु नेड़ि न आवै जिन हरि राखिआ उरि धारा ॥२॥ Gurmukʰ paraaṇee jam néṛ na aavæ jin har raakʰi▫aa ur ḋʰaaraa. ||2|| The Messenger of Death does not even approach that mortal who, as Gurmukh, enshrines the Lord within his heart. ||2|| ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਸੇ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਕਾਹੇ ਆਇਆ ॥ जिन हरि का नामु न गुरमुखि जाता से जग महि काहे आइआ ॥ Jin har kaa naam na gurmukʰ jaaṫaa sé jag mėh kaahé aa▫i▫aa. One who does not know the Lord’s Name, and who does not become Gurmukh - why did he even come into the world? ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਕੀਨੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ गुर की सेवा कदे न कीनी बिरथा जनमु गवाइआ ॥३॥ Gur kee sévaa kaḋé na keenee birṫʰaa janam gavaa▫i▫aa. ||3|| He never serves the Guru; he wastes his life uselessly. ||3|| ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਏ ॥ नानक से पूरे वडभागी सतिगुर सेवा लाए ॥ Naanak sé pooré vadbʰaagee saṫgur sévaa laa▫é. O Nanak! Those whom the True Guru enjoins to His service, have perfect good fortune. ਜੋ ਇਛਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੨॥ जो इछहि सोई फलु पावहि गुरबाणी सुखु पाए ॥४॥२॥१२॥ Jo ichʰėh so▫ee fal paavahi gurbaaṇee sukʰ paa▫é. ||4||2||12|| They obtain the fruits of their desires, and find peace in the Word of the Guru’s Bani. ||4||2||12|| ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਨਿਕਲੈ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ गरभ जोनी विचि कदे न निकलै बिसटा माहि समाइ ॥१॥ Garabʰ jonee vich kaḋé na niklæ bistaa maahi samaa▫é. ||1|| He is never released from the womb of reincarnation; he rots away in manure. ||1|| ਦੁਖ ਵਿਚਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਦੁਖਿ ਮਰੈ ਦੁਖ ਵਿਚਿ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਇ ॥ दुख विचि जंमै दुखि मरै दुख विचि कार कमाइ ॥ Ḋukʰ vich jammæ ḋukʰ maræ ḋukʰ vich kaar kamaa▫é. In pain he is born, in pain he dies, and in pain he does his deeds.
