ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥ अमृत नामु मंनि वसाए ॥ Amriṫ naam man vasaa▫é. Enshrining the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, in the mind, ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ माझ महला ३ ॥ Maajʰ mėhlaa 3. Maajh, Third Mehl: ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥ हउमै मेरा सभु दुखु गवाए ॥ Ha▫umæ méraa sabʰ ḋukʰ gavaa▫é. all the pains of egotism, selfishness and conceit are eliminated. ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਹੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ अमृत बाणी सदा सलाहे अमृति अमृतु पावणिआ ॥१॥ Amriṫ baṇee saḋaa salaahé amriṫ amriṫ paavṇi▫aa. ||1|| By continually praising the Ambrosial Bani of the Word, I obtain the Amrit, the Ambrosial Nectar. ||1|| ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥ हउ वारी जीउ वारी अमृत बाणी मंनि वसावणिआ ॥ Ha▫o vaaree jee▫o vaaree amriṫ baṇee man vasaavaṇi▫aa. I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who enshrine the Ambrosial Bani of the Word within their minds. ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ अमृत बाणी मंनि वसाए अमृतु नामु धिआवणिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Amriṫ baṇee man vasaa▫é amriṫ naam ḋʰi▫aavaṇi▫aa. ||1|| rahaa▫o. Enshrining the Ambrosial Bani in their minds, they meditate on the Ambrosial Naam. ||1||Pause|| ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਸਦਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਵੈਣੀ ॥ अमृतु बोलै सदा मुखि वैणी ॥ Amriṫ bolæ saḋaa mukʰ væṇee. Those who continually chant the Ambrosial Words of Nectar, ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵੇਖੈ ਪਰਖੈ ਸਦਾ ਨੈਣੀ ॥ अमृतु वेखै परखै सदा नैणी ॥ Amriṫ vékʰæ parkʰæ saḋaa næṇee. see and behold this Amrit everywhere with their eyes. ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਥਾ ਕਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਅਵਰਾ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਨਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥ अमृत कथा कहै सदा दिनु राती अवरा आखि सुनावणिआ ॥२॥ Amriṫ kaṫʰaa kahæ saḋaa ḋin raaṫee avraa aakʰ sunaavṇi▫aa. ||2|| They continually chant the Ambrosial Sermon day and night; chanting it, they cause others to hear it. ||2|| ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤਾ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥ अमृत रंगि रता लिव लाए ॥ Amriṫ rang raṫaa liv laa▫é. Imbued with the Ambrosial Love of the Lord, they lovingly focus their attention on Him. ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਾਏ ॥ अमृतु गुर परसादी पाए ॥ Amriṫ gur parsaadee paa▫é. By Guru’s Grace, they receive this Amrit. ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਬੋਲੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥ अमृतु रसना बोलै दिनु राती मनि तनि अमृतु पीआवणिआ ॥३॥ Amriṫ rasnaa bolæ ḋin raaṫee man ṫan amriṫ pee▫aavṇi▫aa. ||3|| They chant the Ambrosial Name with their tongues day and night; their minds and bodies are satisfied by this Amrit. ||3|| ਸੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਜੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥ सो किछु करै जु चिति न होई ॥ So kichʰ karæ jo chiṫ na ho▫ee. That which God does is beyond anyone’s consciousness; ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮੇਟਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਈ ॥ तिस दा हुकमु मेटि न सकै कोई ॥ Ṫis ḋaa hukam mét na sakæ ko▫ee. no one can erase the Hukam of His Command. ਹੁਕਮੇ ਵਰਤੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥ हुकमे वरतै अमृत बाणी हुकमे अमृतु पीआवणिआ ॥४॥ Hukmé varṫæ amriṫ baṇee hukmé amriṫ pee▫aavṇi▫aa. ||4|| By His Command, the Ambrosial Bani of the Word prevails, and by His Command, we drink the Amrit. ||4|| ਅਜਬ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਰੇ ॥ अजब कंम करते हरि केरे ॥ Ajab kamm karṫé har kéré. The actions of the Creator Lord are marvelous and wonderful. ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥ अमृत बाणी सिउ चितु लाए अमृत सबदि वजावणिआ ॥५॥ Amriṫ baṇee si▫o chiṫ laa▫é amriṫ sabaḋ vajaavaṇi▫aa. ||5|| Those who focus their consciousness on the Ambrosial Bani of the Word, hear the vibrations of the Ambrosial Word of the Shabad. ||5|| ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਭੂਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਫੇਰੇ ॥ इहु मनु भूला जांदा फेरे ॥ Ih man bʰoolaa jaaⁿḋaa féré. This mind is deluded, and goes around the wheel of reincarnation. ਖੋਟੇ ਖਰੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਏ ॥ खोटे खरे तुधु आपि उपाए ॥ Kʰoté kʰaré ṫuḋʰ aap upaa▫é. You Yourself created the counterfeit and the genuine. ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਪਰਖੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਬਾਏ ॥ तुधु आपे परखे लोक सबाए ॥ Ṫuḋʰ aapé parkʰé lok sabaa▫é. You Yourself appraise all people. ਖਰੇ ਪਰਖਿ ਖਜਾਨੈ ਪਾਇਹਿ ਖੋਟੇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥ खरे परखि खजानै पाइहि खोटे भरमि भुलावणिआ ॥६॥ Kʰaré parakʰ kʰajaanæ paa▫ihi kʰoté bʰaram bʰulaavaṇi▫aa. ||6|| You appraise the true, and place them in Your Treasury; You consign the false to wander in delusion. ||6|| ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖਾ ਕਿਉ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ॥ किउ करि वेखा किउ सालाही ॥ Ki▫o kar vékʰaa ki▫o saalaahee. How can I behold You? How can I praise You? ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਲਾਹੀ ॥ गुर परसादी सबदि सलाही ॥ Gur parsaadee sabaḋ salaahee. By Guru’s Grace, I praise You through the Word of the Shabad. ਤੇਰੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵਸੈ ਤੂੰ ਭਾਣੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ तेरे भाणे विचि अमृतु वसै तूं भाणै अमृतु पीआवणिआ ॥७॥ Ṫéré bʰaaṇé vich amriṫ vasæ ṫooⁿ bʰaaṇæ amriṫ pee▫aavṇi▫aa. ||7|| In Your Sweet Will, the Amrit is found; by Your Will, You inspire us to drink this Amrit. ||7|| ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਬਦੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ अमृत सबदु अमृत हरि बाणी ॥ Amriṫ sabaḋ amriṫ har baṇee. The Shabad is Amrit; the Lord’s Bani is Amrit. ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥ सतिगुरि सेविऐ रिदै समाणी ॥ Saṫgur sévi▫æ riḋæ samaaṇee. Serving the True Guru, it permeates the heart. ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਪੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਭ ਭੁਖ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੫॥੧੬॥ नानक अमृत नामु सदा सुखदाता पी अमृतु सभ भुख लहि जावणिआ ॥८॥१५॥१६॥ Naanak amriṫ naam saḋaa sukʰ▫ḋaaṫa pee amriṫ sabʰ bʰukʰ lėh jaavaṇi▫aa. ||8||15||16|| O Nanak! The Ambrosial Naam is forever the Giver of peace; drinking in this Amrit, all hunger is satisfied. ||8||15||16||
