ਨਾਨਕ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਭਸੁ ਰੰਗੁ ਭਸੂ ਹੂ ਭਸੁ ਖੇਹ ॥ नानक दुनीआ भसु रंगु भसू हू भसु खेह ॥ Naanak ḋunee▫aa bʰas rang bʰasoo hoo bʰas kʰéh. O Nanak! Worldly pleasures are nothing more than dust. They are the dust of the dust of ashes. ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ महला १ ॥ Mėhlaa 1. First Mehl: ਭਸੋ ਭਸੁ ਕਮਾਵਣੀ ਭੀ ਭਸੁ ਭਰੀਐ ਦੇਹ ॥ भसो भसु कमावणी भी भसु भरीऐ देह ॥ Bʰaso bʰas kamaavṇee bʰee bʰas bʰaree▫æ ḋéh. The mortal earns only the dust of the dust; his body is covered with dust. ਜਾ ਜੀਉ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਕਢੀਐ ਭਸੂ ਭਰਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥ जा जीउ विचहु कढीऐ भसू भरिआ जाइ ॥ Jaa jee▫o vichahu kadʰee▫æ bʰasoo bʰari▫aa jaa▫é. When the soul is taken out of the body, it too is covered with dust. ਅਗੈ ਲੇਖੈ ਮੰਗਿਐ ਹੋਰ ਦਸੂਣੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥ अगै लेखै मंगिऐ होर दसूणी पाइ ॥२॥ Agæ lékʰæ mangi▫æ hor ḋasooṇee paa▫é. ||2|| And when one’s account is called for in the world hereafter, he receives only ten times more dust. ||2|| |
