ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਉਤਮੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੁ ॥ हरि कीरति उतमु नामु है विचि कलिजुग करणी सारु ॥ Har keeraṫ uṫam naam hæ vich kalijug karṇee saar. To chant the Lord’s Praise and His Name is sublime and exalted. This is the most excellent deed in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga. ਮਃ ੪ ॥ मः ४ ॥ Mėhlaa 4. Fourth Mehl: ਮਤਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਹਾਰੁ ॥ मति गुरमति कीरति पाईऐ हरि नामा हरि उरि हारु ॥ Maṫ gurmaṫ keeraṫ paa▫ee▫æ har naamaa har ur haar. His Praises come through the Guru’s Teachings and Instructions; wear the Necklace of the Lord’s Name. ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਸਉਪਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ॥ वडभागी जिन हरि धिआइआ तिन सउपिआ हरि भंडारु ॥ vadbʰaagee jin har ḋʰi▫aa▫i▫aa ṫin sa▫upi▫aa har bʰandaar. Those who meditate on the Lord are very fortunate. They are entrusted with the Treasure of the Lord. ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਜਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਣੇ ਨਿਤ ਹਉਮੈ ਹੋਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥ बिनु नावै जि करम कमावणे नित हउमै होइ खुआरु ॥ Bin naavæ jė karam kamaavṇé niṫ ha▫umæ ho▫é kʰu▫aar. Without the Name, no matter what people may do, they continue to waste away in egotism. ਜਲਿ ਹਸਤੀ ਮਲਿ ਨਾਵਾਲੀਐ ਸਿਰਿ ਭੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਛਾਰੁ ॥ जलि हसती मलि नावालीऐ सिरि भी फिरि पावै छारु ॥ Jal hasṫee mal naavaalee▫æ sir bʰee fir paavæ chʰaar. Elephants can be washed and bathed in water, but they only throw dust on their heads again. ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ॥ हरि मेलहु सतिगुरु दइआ करि मनि वसै एकंकारु ॥ Har mélhu saṫgur ḋa▫i▫aa kar man vasæ ékankaar. O Kind and Compassionate True Guru, please unite me with the Lord, that the One Creator of the Universe may abide within my mind. ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ जिन गुरमुखि सुणि हरि मंनिआ जन नानक तिन जैकारु ॥२॥ Jin gurmukʰ suṇ har mani▫aa jan Naanak ṫin jækaar. ||2|| Those Gurmukhs who listen to the Lord and believe in Him - servant Nanak salutes them. ||2||
