ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਬਉਰਾਨਾ ॥ हउमै विचि सभु जगु बउराना ॥ Ha▫umæ vich sabʰ jag ba▫uraanaa. The entire world has gone insane in egotism. ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ गउड़ी गुआरेरी महला ३ ॥ Ga▫oṛee gu▫aaréree mėhlaa 3. Gauree Gwaarayree, Third Mehl: ਬਹੁ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਚਿਤਵੈ ਆਪੁ ਨ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥ बहु चिंता चितवै आपु न पछाना ॥ Baho chinṫaa chiṫvæ aap na pachʰaanaa. The mind is distracted by great anxiety; no one recognizes one’s own self. ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਨਾ ॥ दूजै भाइ भरमि भुलाना ॥ Ḋoojæ bʰaa▫é bʰaram bʰulaanaa. In the love of duality, it wanders deluded by doubt. ਧੰਧਾ ਕਰਤਿਆ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਵਿਹਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ धंधा करतिआ अनदिनु विहाना ॥१॥ Ḋʰanḋʰaa karṫi▫aa an▫ḋin vihaanaa. ||1|| Occupied with their own affairs, their nights and days are passing away. ||1|| ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਮਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥ हिरदै रामु रमहु मेरे भाई ॥ Hirḋæ raam ramhu méré bʰaa▫ee. Meditate on the Lord in your hearts, O my Siblings of Destiny. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਨ ਰਸਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ गुरमुखि रसना हरि रसन रसाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Gurmukʰ rasnaa har rasan rasaa▫ee. ||1|| rahaa▫o. The Gurmukh’s tongue savors the sublime essence of the Lord. ||1||Pause|| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥ गुरमुखि हिरदै जिनि रामु पछाता ॥ Gurmukʰ hirḋæ jin raam pachʰaaṫaa. The Gurmukhs recognize the Lord in their own hearts; ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਜਾਤਾ ॥ जगजीवनु सेवि जुग चारे जाता ॥ Jagjeevan sév jug chaaré jaaṫaa. they serve the Lord, the Life of the World. They are famous throughout the four ages. ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥ हउमै मारि गुर सबदि पछाता ॥ Ha▫umæ maar gur sabaḋ pachʰaaṫaa. They subdue egotism, and realize the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਰਮ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥੨॥ क्रिपा करे प्रभ करम बिधाता ॥२॥ Kirpaa karé parabʰ karam biḋʰaaṫaa. ||2|| God, the Architect of Destiny, showers His Mercy upon them. ||2|| ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸਚੇ ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ से जन सचे जो गुर सबदि मिलाए ॥ Sé jan saché jo gur sabaḋ milaa▫é. True are those who merge into the Word of the Guru’s Shabad; ਧਾਵਤ ਵਰਜੇ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਹਾਏ ॥ धावत वरजे ठाकि रहाए ॥ Ḋʰaavaṫ varjé tʰaak rahaa▫é. they restrain their wandering mind and keep it steady. ਨਾਮੁ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਏ ॥ नामु नव निधि गुर ते पाए ॥ Naam nav niḋʰ gur ṫé paa▫é. The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the nine treasures. It is obtained from the Guru. ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਏ ॥੩॥ हरि किरपा ते हरि वसै मनि आए ॥३॥ Har kirpaa ṫé har vasæ man aa▫é. ||3|| By the Lord’s Grace, the Lord comes to dwell in the mind. ||3|| ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਕਰਤਿਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਰੀਰ ॥ राम राम करतिआ सुखु सांति सरीर ॥ Raam raam karṫi▫aa sukʰ saaⁿṫ sareer. Chanting the Name of the Lord, Ram, Ram, the body becomes peaceful and tranquil. ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਜਮ ਪੀਰ ॥ अंतरि वसै न लागै जम पीर ॥ Anṫar vasæ na laagæ jam peer. He dwells deep within - the pain of death does not touch Him. ਆਪੇ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਆਪਿ ਵਜੀਰ ॥ आपे साहिबु आपि वजीर ॥ Aapé saahib aap vajeer. He Himself is our Lord and Master; He is His Own Advisor. ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰ ॥੪॥੬॥੨੬॥ नानक सेवि सदा हरि गुणी गहीर ॥४॥६॥२६॥ Naanak sév saḋaa har guṇee gaheer. ||4||6||26|| O Nanak! Serve the Lord forever; He is the treasure of glorious virtue. ||4||6||26||
