ਮਿਲੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਅਪਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਹੁ ॥ मिलु मेरे गोबिंद अपना नामु देहु ॥ Mil méré gobinḋ apnaa naam ḋéh. Meet me, O my Lord of the Universe. Please bless me with Your Name. ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ गउड़ी महला ५ ॥ Ga▫oṛee mėhlaa 5. Gauree, Fifth Mehl: ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੋ ਪਹਿਰੈ ਖਾਇ ॥ नाम बिना जो पहिरै खाइ ॥ Naam binaa jo pahiræ kʰaa▫é. Without the Naam, one who dresses and eats well ਜਿਉ ਕੂਕਰੁ ਜੂਠਨ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥ जिउ कूकरु जूठन महि पाइ ॥१॥ Ji▫o kookar jootʰan mėh paa▫é. ||1|| is like a dog, who falls in and eats impure foods. ||1|| ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਅਸਨੇਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ नाम बिना ध्रिगु ध्रिगु असनेहु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Naam binaa ḋʰarig ḋʰarig asnéhu. ||1|| rahaa▫o. Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, cursed, cursed is love and intimacy. ||1||Pause|| ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੇਤਾ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥ नाम बिना जेता बिउहारु ॥ Naam binaa jéṫaa bi▫uhaar. Without the Naam, all occupations are useless, ਜਿਉ ਮਿਰਤਕ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ जिउ मिरतक मिथिआ सीगारु ॥२॥ Ji▫o mirṫak miṫʰi▫aa seegaar. ||2|| like the decorations on a dead body. ||2|| ਨਾਮੁ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਰਸ ਭੋਗ ॥ नामु बिसारि करे रस भोग ॥ Naam bisaar karé ras bʰog. One who forgets the Naam and indulges in pleasures, ਸੁਖੁ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਨਹੀ ਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਰੋਗ ॥੩॥ सुखु सुपनै नही तन महि रोग ॥३॥ Sukʰ supnæ nahee ṫan mėh rog. ||3|| shall find no peace, even in dreams; his body shall become diseased. ||3|| ਨਾਮੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਕਰੇ ਅਨ ਕਾਜ ॥ नामु तिआगि करे अन काज ॥ Naam ṫi▫aag karé an kaaj. One who renounces the Naam and engages in other occupations, ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਝੂਠੇ ਸਭਿ ਪਾਜ ॥੪॥ बिनसि जाइ झूठे सभि पाज ॥४॥ Binas jaa▫é jʰootʰé sabʰ paaj. ||4|| shall see all of his false pretenses fall away. ||4|| ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਮਨਿ ਨ ਆਰਾਧਾ ॥ हरि का नामु जिनि मनि न आराधा ॥ Har kaa naam jin man na aaraaḋʰaa. One whose mind does not contemplate the Name of the Lord ਕੋਟਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਤੋ ਨਰਕਿ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੫॥ कोटि करम करतो नरकि जावै ॥५॥ Kot karam karṫo narak jaavæ. ||5|| shall go to hell, even though he may perform millions of ceremonial rituals. ||5|| ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਲਾਵੈ ॥ नाम संगि मनि प्रीति न लावै ॥ Naam sang man pareeṫ na laavæ. One whose mind does not embrace love for the Naam ਚੋਰ ਕੀ ਨਿਆਈ ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਬਾਧਾ ॥੬॥ चोर की निआई जम पुरि बाधा ॥६॥ Chor kee ni▫aa▫ee jam pur baaḋʰaa. ||6|| is bound like a thief, in the City of Death. ||6|| ਲਾਖ ਅਡੰਬਰ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬਿਸਥਾਰਾ ॥ लाख अड्मबर बहुतु बिसथारा ॥ Laakʰ adambar bahuṫ bisṫʰaaraa. Hundreds of thousands of ostentatious shows and great expanses - ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਝੂਠੇ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥੭॥ नाम बिना झूठे पासारा ॥७॥ Naam binaa jʰootʰé paasaaraa. ||7|| without the Naam, all these displays are false. ||7|| ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਲੇਇ ॥ हरि का नामु सोई जनु लेइ ॥ Har kaa naam so▫ee jan lé▫é. That humble being repeats the Name of the Lord, ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਇ ॥੮॥੧੦॥ करि किरपा नानक जिसु देइ ॥८॥१०॥ Kar kirpaa Naanak jis ḋé▫é. ||8||10|| O Nanak! Whom the Lord blesses with His Mercy. ||8||10||
