ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂਲਹੁ ਭੁਲਿਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਲਬੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ॥ मनमुख मूलहु भुलिआ विचि लबु लोभु अहंकारु ॥ Manmukʰ moolhu bʰuli▫aa vich lab lobʰ ahaⁿkaar. The self-willed Manmukhs forget the Primal Lord, the Source of all; they are caught in greed and egotism. ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੪ ॥ सलोक मः ४ ॥ Salok mėhlaa 4. Shalok, Fourth Mehl: ਸੁਧਿ ਮਤਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਸਭ ਹਿਰਿ ਲਈ ਬੋਲਨਿ ਸਭੁ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ॥ सुधि मति करतै सभ हिरि लई बोलनि सभु विकारु ॥ Suḋʰ maṫ karṫæ sabʰ hir la▫ee bolan sabʰ vikaar. The Creator has taken away all their understanding and purity; all their speech is evil and corrupt. ਝਗੜਾ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਦਰੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨ ਕਰਹਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ झगड़ा करदिआ अनदिनु गुदरै सबदि न करहि वीचारु ॥ Jʰagṛaa karḋi▫aa an▫ḋin guḋræ sabaḋ na karahi veechaar. They pass their nights and days in conflict and struggle; they do not contemplate the Word of the Shabad. ਦਿਤੈ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਅਹਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤਿਸਨਾ ਬਹੁ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੵਾਰੁ ॥ दितै कितै न संतोखीअहि अंतरि तिसना बहु अगिआनु अंध्यारु ॥ Ḋiṫæ kiṫæ na sanṫokʰee▫ah anṫar ṫisnaa baho agi▫aan anḋʰ▫yaar. No matter what they are given, they are not satisfied; within their hearts there is great desire, ignorance and darkness. ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਮੁਖਾ ਨਾਲੋ ਤੁਟੀ ਭਲੀ ਜਿਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥੧॥ नानक मनमुखा नालो तुटी भली जिन माइआ मोह पिआरु ॥१॥ Naanak manmukʰaa naalo ṫutee bʰalee jin maa▫i▫aa moh pi▫aar. ||1|| O Nanak! It is good to break away from the self-willed Manmukhs, who have love and attachment to Maya. ||1||
