ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੀ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਵੈ ਪਰਾਈ ਆਪਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ जनम जनम की मलु धोवै पराई आपणा कीता पावै ॥ Janam janam kee mal ḋʰovæ paraa▫ee aapṇaa keeṫaa paavæ. He washes off the filth of other peoples’ incarnations, but he obtains the rewards of his own actions. ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ आसा महला ५ ॥ Aasaa mėhlaa 5. Aasaa, Fifth Mehl: ਈਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਢੋਈ ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਪਚਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ईहा सुखु नही दरगह ढोई जम पुरि जाइ पचावै ॥१॥ Eehaa sukʰ nahee ḋargėh dʰo▫ee jam pur jaa▫é pachaavæ. ||1|| He has no peace in this world, and he has no place in the Court of the Lord. In the City of Death, he is tortured. ||1|| ਨਿੰਦਕਿ ਅਹਿਲਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥ निंदकि अहिला जनमु गवाइआ ॥ Ninḋak ahilaa janam gavaa▫i▫aa. The slanderer loses his life in vain. ਪਹੁਚਿ ਨ ਸਾਕੈ ਕਾਹੂ ਬਾਤੈ ਆਗੈ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ पहुचि न साकै काहू बातै आगै ठउर न पाइआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Pahuch na saakæ kaahoo baaṫæ aagæ tʰa▫ur na paa▫i▫aa. ||1|| rahaa▫o. He cannot succeed in anything, and in the world hereafter, he finds no place at all. ||1||Pause|| ਕਿਰਤੁ ਪਇਆ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਬਪੁਰੇ ਕਾ ਕਿਆ ਓਹੁ ਕਰੈ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥ किरतु पइआ निंदक बपुरे का किआ ओहु करै बिचारा ॥ Kiraṫ pa▫i▫aa ninḋak bapuré kaa ki▫aa oh karæ bichaaraa. Such is the fate of the wretched slanderer - what can the poor creature do? ਤਹਾ ਬਿਗੂਤਾ ਜਹ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਰਾਖੈ ਓਹੁ ਕਿਸੁ ਪਹਿ ਕਰੇ ਪੁਕਾਰਾ ॥੨॥ तहा बिगूता जह कोइ न राखै ओहु किसु पहि करे पुकारा ॥२॥ Ṫahaa bigooṫaa jah ko▫é na raakʰæ oh kis pėh karé pukaaraa. ||2|| He is ruined there, where no one can protect him; with whom should he lodge his complaint? ||2|| ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਕਤਹੂੰ ਨਾਹੀ ਖਸਮੈ ਏਵੈ ਭਾਣਾ ॥ निंदक की गति कतहूं नाही खसमै एवै भाणा ॥ Ninḋak kee gaṫ kaṫahooⁿ naahee kʰasmæ évæ bʰaaṇaa. The slanderer shall never attain emancipation; this is the Will of the Lord and Master. ਜੋ ਜੋ ਨਿੰਦ ਕਰੇ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਤਿਉ ਸੰਤਨ ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਨਾ ॥੩॥ जो जो निंद करे संतन की तिउ संतन सुखु माना ॥३॥ Jo jo ninḋ karé sanṫan kee ṫi▫o sanṫan sukʰ maanaa. ||3|| The more the Saints are slandered, the more they dwell in peace. ||3|| ਸੰਤਾ ਟੇਕ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੂੰ ਸੰਤਨ ਕਾ ਸਹਾਈ ॥ संता टेक तुमारी सुआमी तूं संतन का सहाई ॥ Sanṫaa ték ṫumaaree su▫aamee ṫooⁿ sanṫan kaa sahaa▫ee. The Saints have Your Support, O Lord and Master; You are the Saints’ Help and Support.
