ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ आसा महला ३ ॥ Aasaa mėhlaa 3. Aasaa, Third Mehl: ਦੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਨੑੀ ਨ ਜਾਣਨਿ ਪਿਰ ਕਾ ਸੁਆਉ ॥ दोहागणी महलु न पाइन्ही न जाणनि पिर का सुआउ ॥ Ḋuhaagaṇee mahal na paa▫inĥee na jaaṇan pir kaa su▫aa▫o. The deserted brides do not obtain the Mansion of their Husband’s Presence, nor do they know His taste. ਫਿਕਾ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਨਾ ਨਿਵਹਿ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਸੁਆਉ ॥੧॥ फिका बोलहि ना निवहि दूजा भाउ सुआउ ॥१॥ Fikaa bolėh naa nivėh ḋoojaa bʰaa▫o su▫aa▫o. ||1|| They speak harsh words, and do not bow to Him; they are in love with another. ||1|| ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਵਸਿ ਆਵੈ ॥ इहु मनूआ किउ करि वसि आवै ॥ Ih manoo▫aa ki▫o kar vas aavæ. How can this mind come under control? ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਠਾਕੀਐ ਗਿਆਨ ਮਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਆਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ गुर परसादी ठाकीऐ गिआन मती घरि आवै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Gur parsaadee tʰaakee▫æ gi▫aan maṫee gʰar aavæ. ||1|| rahaa▫o. By Guru’s Grace, it is held in check; instructed in spiritual wisdom, it returns to its home. ||1||Pause|| ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰੀਓਨੁ ਲਾਇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ सोहागणी आपि सवारीओनु लाइ प्रेम पिआरु ॥ Sohaagaṇee aap savaaree▫on laa▫é parém pi▫aar. He Himself adorns the happy soul-brides; they bear Him love and affection. ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਚਲਦੀਆ ਨਾਮੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ सतिगुर कै भाणै चलदीआ नामे सहजि सीगारु ॥२॥ Saṫgur kæ bʰaaṇæ chalḋee▫aa naamé sahj seegaar. ||2|| They live in harmony with the Sweet Will of the True Guru, naturally adorned with the Naam. ||2|| ਸਦਾ ਰਾਵਹਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਚੀ ਸੇਜ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥ सदा रावहि पिरु आपणा सची सेज सुभाइ ॥ Saḋaa raavėh pir aapṇaa sachee séj subʰaa▫é. They enjoy their Beloved forever, and their bed is decorated with Truth. ਪਿਰ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਿ ਮੋਹੀਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ॥੩॥ पिर कै प्रेमि मोहीआ मिलि प्रीतम सुखु पाइ ॥३॥ Pir kæ parém mohee▫aa mil pareeṫam sukʰ paa▫é. ||3|| They are fascinated with the Love of their Husband Lord; meeting their Beloved, they obtain peace. ||3|| ਗਿਆਨ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤੀ ਨਾਰਿ ॥ गिआन अपारु सीगारु है सोभावंती नारि ॥ Gi▫aan apaar seegaar hæ sobʰaavanṫee naar. Spiritual wisdom is the incomparable decoration of the happy soul-bride. ਸਾ ਸਭਰਾਈ ਸੁੰਦਰੀ ਪਿਰ ਕੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੪॥ सा सभराई सुंदरी पिर कै हेति पिआरि ॥४॥ Saa sabʰraa▫ee sunḋree pir kæ héṫ pi▫aar. ||4|| She is so beautiful - she is the queen of all; she enjoys the love and affection of her Husband Lord. ||4|| ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਰਖਿਓਨੁ ਸਚੈ ਅਲਖਿ ਅਪਾਰਿ ॥ सोहागणी विचि रंगु रखिओनु सचै अलखि अपारि ॥ Sohaagaṇee vich rang rakʰi▫on sachæ alakʰ apaar. The True Lord, the Unseen, the Infinite, has infused His Love among the happy soul-brides. ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਚੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੫॥ सतिगुरु सेवनि आपणा सचै भाइ पिआरि ॥५॥ Saṫgur sévan aapṇaa sachæ bʰaa▫é pi▫aar. ||5|| They serve their True Guru, with true love and affection. ||5|| ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਗੁਣ ਕਾ ਗਲਿ ਹਾਰੁ ॥ सोहागणी सीगारु बणाइआ गुण का गलि हारु ॥ Sohaagaṇee seegaar baṇaa▫i▫aa guṇ kaa gal haar. The happy soul-bride has adorned herself with the necklace of virtue. ਭਗਤਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਊਤਮਾ ਜਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਸਬਦੇ ਹੋਇ ॥ भगति रते से ऊतमा जति पति सबदे होइ ॥ Bʰagaṫ raṫé sé ooṫmaa jaṫ paṫ sabḋé ho▫é. Those who are imbued with devotional worship are the most exalted. Their social standing and honor come from the Word of the Shabad. ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਿਰਮਲੁ ਤਨਿ ਲਾਵਣਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਤਨੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੬॥ प्रेम पिरमलु तनि लावणा अंतरि रतनु वीचारु ॥६॥ Parém pirmal ṫan laavṇaa anṫar raṫan veechaar. ||6|| She applies the perfume of love to her body, and within her mind is the jewel of reflective meditation. ||6|| ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸਭ ਨੀਚ ਜਾਤਿ ਹੈ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਕਾ ਕੀੜਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੭॥ बिनु नावै सभ नीच जाति है बिसटा का कीड़ा होइ ॥७॥ Bin naavæ sabʰ neech jaaṫ hæ bistaa kaa keeṛaa ho▫é. ||7|| Without the Naam, all are low class, like maggots in manure. ||7|| ਹਉ ਹਉ ਕਰਦੀ ਸਭ ਫਿਰੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਹਉ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ हउ हउ करदी सभ फिरै बिनु सबदै हउ न जाइ ॥ Ha▫o ha▫o karḋee sabʰ firæ bin sabḋæ ha▫o na jaa▫é. Everyone proclaims, “Me, me!”; but without the Shabad, the ego does not depart. ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਹਉਮੈ ਗਈ ਸਚੈ ਰਹੇ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੮॥੮॥੩੦॥ नानक नामि रते तिन हउमै गई सचै रहे समाइ ॥८॥८॥३०॥ Naanak naam raṫé ṫin ha▫umæ ga▫ee sachæ rahé samaa▫é. ||8||8||30|| O Nanak! Those who are imbued with the Naam lose their ego; they remain absorbed in the True Lord. ||8||8||30||
