ਘੜੀ ਮੁਹਤ ਕਾ ਪਾਹੁਣਾ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥ घड़ी मुहत का पाहुणा काज सवारणहारु ॥ Gʰaṛee muhaṫ kaa paahuṇaa kaaj savaaraṇhaar. For a brief moment, man is a guest of the Lord; he tries to resolve his affairs. ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ सिरीरागु महला ५ ॥ Sireeraag mėhlaa 5. Siree Raag, Fifth Mehl: ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾਮਿ ਵਿਆਪਿਆ ਸਮਝੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗਾਵਾਰੁ ॥ माइआ कामि विआपिआ समझै नाही गावारु ॥ Maa▫i▫aa kaam vi▫aapi▫aa samjʰæ naahee gaavaar. Engrossed in Maya and sexual desire, the fool does not understand. ਉਠਿ ਚਲਿਆ ਪਛੁਤਾਇਆ ਪਰਿਆ ਵਸਿ ਜੰਦਾਰ ॥੧॥ उठि चलिआ पछुताइआ परिआ वसि जंदार ॥१॥ Utʰ chali▫aa pachʰuṫaa▫i▫aa pari▫aa vas janḋaar. ||1|| He arises and departs with regret, and falls into the clutches of the Messenger of Death. ||1|| ਅੰਧੇ ਤੂੰ ਬੈਠਾ ਕੰਧੀ ਪਾਹਿ ॥ अंधे तूं बैठा कंधी पाहि ॥ Anḋʰé ṫooⁿ bætʰaa kanḋʰee paahi. You are sitting on the collapsing riverbank-are you blind? ਜੇ ਹੋਵੀ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤਾ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਬਚਨੁ ਕਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ जे होवी पूरबि लिखिआ ता गुर का बचनु कमाहि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Jé hovee poorab likʰi▫aa ṫaa gur kaa bachan kamaahi. ||1|| rahaa▫o. If you are so predestined, then act according to the Guru’s Teachings. ||1||Pause|| ਹਰੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਨਹ ਡਡੁਰੀ ਪਕੀ ਵਢਣਹਾਰ ॥ हरी नाही नह डडुरी पकी वढणहार ॥ Haree naahee nah daduree pakee vadʰaṇhaar. The Reaper does not look upon any as unripe, half-ripe or fully ripe. ਲੈ ਲੈ ਦਾਤ ਪਹੁਤਿਆ ਲਾਵੇ ਕਰਿ ਤਈਆਰੁ ॥ लै लै दात पहुतिआ लावे करि तईआरु ॥ Læ læ ḋaaṫ pahuṫi▫aa laavé kar ṫa▫ee▫aar. Picking up and wielding their sickles, the harvesters arrive. ਜਾ ਹੋਆ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਿਰਸਾਣ ਦਾ ਤਾ ਲੁਣਿ ਮਿਣਿਆ ਖੇਤਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ जा होआ हुकमु किरसाण दा ता लुणि मिणिआ खेतारु ॥२॥ Jaa ho▫aa hukam kirsaaṇ ḋaa ṫaa luṇ miṇi▫aa kʰéṫaar. ||2|| When the landlord gives the order, they cut and measure the crop. ||2|| ਪਹਿਲਾ ਪਹਰੁ ਧੰਧੈ ਗਇਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਰਿ ਸੋਇਆ ॥ पहिला पहरु धंधै गइआ दूजै भरि सोइआ ॥ Pahilaa pahar ḋʰanḋʰæ ga▫i▫aa ḋoojæ bʰar so▫i▫aa. The first watch of the night passes away in worthless affairs, and the second passes in deep sleep. ਤੀਜੈ ਝਾਖ ਝਖਾਇਆ ਚਉਥੈ ਭੋਰੁ ਭਇਆ ॥ तीजै झाख झखाइआ चउथै भोरु भइआ ॥ Ṫeejæ jʰaakʰ jʰakʰaa▫i▫aa cha▫uṫʰæ bʰor bʰa▫i▫aa. In the third, they babble nonsense, and when the fourth watch comes, the day of death has arrived. ਕਦ ਹੀ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਜਿਨਿ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਦੀਆ ॥੩॥ कद ही चिति न आइओ जिनि जीउ पिंडु दीआ ॥३॥ Kaḋ hee chiṫ na aa▫i▫o jin jee▫o pind ḋee▫aa. ||3|| The thought of the One who bestows body and soul never enters the mind. ||3|| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਉ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਜੀਉ ਕੀਆ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥ साधसंगति कउ वारिआ जीउ कीआ कुरबाणु ॥ Saaḋʰsangaṫ ka▫o vaari▫aa jee▫o kee▫aa kurbaaṇ. I am devoted to the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; I sacrifice my soul to them. ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਸੋਝੀ ਮਨਿ ਪਈ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ॥ जिस ते सोझी मनि पई मिलिआ पुरखु सुजाणु ॥ Jis ṫé sojʰee man pa▫ee mili▫aa purakʰ sujaaṇ. Through them, understanding has entered my mind, and I have met the All-knowing Lord God. ਨਾਨਕ ਡਿਠਾ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਜਾਣੁ ॥੪॥੪॥੭੪॥ नानक डिठा सदा नालि हरि अंतरजामी जाणु ॥४॥४॥७४॥ Naanak ditʰaa saḋaa naal har anṫarjaamee jaaṇ. ||4||4||74|| Nanak sees the Lord always with him-the Lord, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. ||4||4||74||
