ਮਃ ੧ ॥ मः १ ॥ Mėhlaa 1. First Mehl: ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੂ ਨ ਚੇਤਨੀ ਮਨਿ ਆਪਣੈ ਸੁਚੇਤ ॥ नानक गुरू न चेतनी मनि आपणै सुचेत ॥ Naanak guroo na chéṫnee man aapṇæ suchéṫ. O Nanak! Those who do not think of the Guru, and who think of themselves as clever, ਛੁਟੇ ਤਿਲ ਬੂਆੜ ਜਿਉ ਸੁੰਞੇ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਖੇਤ ॥ छुटे तिल बूआड़ जिउ सुंञे अंदरि खेत ॥ Chʰuté ṫil boo▫aaṛ ji▫o suñé anḋar kʰéṫ. shall be left abandoned in the field, like the scattered sesame. ਖੇਤੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਛੁਟਿਆ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਉ ਨਾਹ ॥ खेतै अंदरि छुटिआ कहु नानक सउ नाह ॥ Kʰéṫæ anḋar chʰuti▫aa kaho Naanak sa▫o naah. They are abandoned in the field, says Nanak, and they have a hundred masters to please. ਫਲੀਅਹਿ ਫੁਲੀਅਹਿ ਬਪੁੜੇ ਭੀ ਤਨ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੁਆਹ ॥੩॥ फलीअहि फुलीअहि बपुड़े भी तन विचि सुआह ॥३॥ Falee▫ah fulee▫ah bapuṛé bʰee ṫan vich su▫aah. ||3|| The wretches bear fruit and flower, but within their bodies, they are filled with ashes. ||3||
