ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥ Ik▫oaⁿkaar saṫgur parsaaḋ. One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: ਟੋਡੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੨ ਚਉਪਦੇ टोडी महला ५ घरु २ चउपदे Todee mėhlaa 5 gʰar 2 cha▫upḋé Todee, Fifth Mehl, Second House, Chau-Padas: ਮਾਇਆ ਮਗਨ ਸੁਆਦਿ ਲੋਭਿ ਮੋਹਿਓ ਤਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਓ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ माइआ मगन सुआदि लोभि मोहिओ तिनि प्रभि आपि भुलाइओ ॥ रहाउ ॥ Maa▫i▫aa magan su▫aaḋ lobʰ mohi▫o ṫin parabʰ aap bʰulaa▫i▫o. Rahaa▫o. It is intoxicated by Maya, enticed by the taste of greed. God Himself has deluded it. ||Pause|| ਧਾਇਓ ਰੇ ਮਨ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਧਾਇਓ ॥ धाइओ रे मन दह दिस धाइओ ॥ Ḋʰaa▫i▫o ré man ḋah ḋis ḋʰaa▫i▫o. The mind wanders, wandering in the ten directions. ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਇਕੁ ਮੁਹਤੁ ਨ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਇਓ ॥ हरि कथा हरि जस साधसंगति सिउ इकु मुहतु न इहु मनु लाइओ ॥ Har kaṫʰaa har jas saaḋʰsangaṫ si▫o ik muhaṫ na ih man laa▫i▫o. He does not focus his mind, even for a moment, on the Lord’s sermon, or the Lord’s Praises, or the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ਬਿਗਸਿਓ ਪੇਖਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਸੁੰਭ ਕੋ ਪਰ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਜੋਹਨਿ ਜਾਇਓ ॥੧॥ बिगसिओ पेखि रंगु कसु्मभ को पर ग्रिह जोहनि जाइओ ॥१॥ Bigsi▫o pékʰ rang kasumbʰ ko par garih johan jaa▫i▫o. ||1|| He is excited, gazing at the transitory color of the safflower, and looking at other men’s wives. ||1|| ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਭਾਉ ਨ ਕੀਨੋ ਨਹ ਸਤ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਨਾਇਓ ॥ चरन कमल सिउ भाउ न कीनो नह सत पुरखु मनाइओ ॥ Charan kamal si▫o bʰaa▫o na keeno nah saṫ purakʰ manaa▫i▫o. He does not love the Lord’s lotus feet, and he does not please the True Lord. ਧਾਵਤ ਕਉ ਧਾਵਹਿ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤੀ ਜਿਉ ਤੇਲੀ ਬਲਦੁ ਭ੍ਰਮਾਇਓ ॥੨॥ धावत कउ धावहि बहु भाती जिउ तेली बलदु भ्रमाइओ ॥२॥ Ḋʰaavaṫ ka▫o ḋʰaavėh baho bʰaaṫee ji▫o ṫélee balaḋ bʰarmaa▫i▫o. ||2|| He runs around chasing the fleeting objects of the world, in all directions, like the ox around the oil press. ||2|| ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨੁ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਨ ਕੀਓ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਗਾਇਓ ॥ नाम दानु इसनानु न कीओ इक निमख न कीरति गाइओ ॥ Naam ḋaan isnaan na kee▫o ik nimakʰ na keeraṫ gaa▫i▫o. He does not practice the Naam, the Name of the Lord; nor does he practice charity or inner cleansing. ਨਾਨਾ ਝੂਠਿ ਲਾਇ ਮਨੁ ਤੋਖਿਓ ਨਹ ਬੂਝਿਓ ਅਪਨਾਇਓ ॥੩॥ नाना झूठि लाइ मनु तोखिओ नह बूझिओ अपनाइओ ॥३॥ Naanaa jʰootʰ laa▫é man ṫokʰi▫o nah boojʰi▫o apnaa▫i▫o. ||3|| He does not sing the Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises, even for an instant. Clinging to his many falsehoods, he does not please his own mind, and he does not understand his own self. ||3|| ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਕੀਏ ਨਹੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਧਿਆਇਓ ॥ परउपकार न कबहू कीए नही सतिगुरु सेवि धिआइओ ॥ Par▫upkaar na kabhoo kee▫é nahee saṫgur sév ḋʰi▫aa▫i▫o. He never does good deeds for others; he does not serve or meditate on the True Guru. ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਰਚਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਗੋਸਟਿ ਮਤਵਾਰੋ ਮਦ ਮਾਇਓ ॥੪॥ पंच दूत रचि संगति गोसटि मतवारो मद माइओ ॥४॥ Panch ḋooṫ rach sangaṫ gosat maṫvaaro maḋ maa▫i▫o. ||4|| He is entangled in the company and the advice of the five demons, intoxicated by the wine of Maya. ||4|| ਕਰਉ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲ ਸੁਣਿ ਆਇਓ ॥ करउ बेनती साधसंगति हरि भगति वछल सुणि आइओ ॥ Kara▫o bénṫee saaḋʰsangaṫ har bʰagaṫ vachʰal suṇ aa▫i▫o. I offer my prayer in the Saadh Sangat; hearing that the Lord is the Lover of His devotees, I have come. ਨਾਨਕ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਛੈ ਰਾਖੁ ਲਾਜ ਅਪੁਨਾਇਓ ॥੫॥੧॥੩॥ नानक भागि परिओ हरि पाछै राखु लाज अपुनाइओ ॥५॥१॥३॥ Naanak bʰaag pari▫o har paachʰæ raakʰ laaj apunaa▫i▫o. ||5||1||3|| Nanak runs after the Lord, and pleads, “Protect my honor, Lord, and make me Your own”. ||5||1||3||
