ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥ Ik▫oaⁿkaar saṫgur parsaaḋ. One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: ਰਾਗੁ ਸੂਹੀ ਅਸਟਪਦੀਆ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੧ रागु सूही असटपदीआ महला ५ घरु १ Raag soohee asatpaḋee▫aa mėhlaa 5 gʰar 1 Raag Soohee, Ashtapadees, Fifth Mehl, First House: ਉਰਝਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਾ ॥ उरझि रहिओ बिखिआ कै संगा ॥ Urajʰ rahi▫o bikʰi▫aa kæ sangaa. He is entangled in sinful associations; ਮਨਹਿ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਅਨਿਕ ਤਰੰਗਾ ॥੧॥ मनहि बिआपत अनिक तरंगा ॥१॥ Manėh bi▫aapaṫ anik ṫarangaa. ||1|| his mind is troubled by so many waves (thoughts of greed) of mind. ||1|| ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ॥ मेरे मन अगम अगोचर ॥ Méré man agam agochar. The one who is Unapproachable and Incomprehensible; O my mind! ਕਤ ਪਾਈਐ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ कत पाईऐ पूरन परमेसर ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Kaṫ paa▫ee▫æ pooran parmésar. ||1|| rahaa▫o. How can that Perfect Transcendent Lord be found? ||1||Pause|| ਮੋਹ ਮਗਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਬਿਆਪੇ ॥ मोह मगन महि रहिआ बिआपे ॥ Moh magan mėh rahi▫aa bi▫aapé. He remains entangled in the intoxication of worldly love. ਅਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਕਬਹੂ ਨਹੀ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੇ ॥੨॥ अति त्रिसना कबहू नही ध्रापे ॥२॥ Aṫ ṫarisnaa kabhoo nahee ḋʰaraapé. ||2|| His excessive thirst is never quenched. ||2|| ਅਗਿਆਨਿ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ਮਹਾ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ ॥੩॥ अगिआनि न सूझै महा गुबारा ॥३॥ Agi▫aan na soojʰæ mahaa gubaaraa. ||3|| he is in the utter darkness of ignorance, and he does not understand. ||3|| ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਜਰੇ ਕਿਵਾਰਾ ॥ भ्रमत बिआपत जरे किवारा ॥ Bʰarmaṫ bi▫aapaṫ jaré kivaaraa. Afflicted by doubt, the shutters are shut tight; ਬਸਇ ਕਰੋਧੁ ਸਰੀਰਿ ਚੰਡਾਰਾ ॥ बसइ करोधु सरीरि चंडारा ॥ Bas▫i karoḋʰ sareer chandaaraa. Anger is the outcast which hides within his body; ਜਾਣੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਰਬਾਰਾ ॥੪॥ जाणु न पाईऐ प्रभ दरबारा ॥४॥ Jaaṇ na paa▫ee▫æ parabʰ ḋarbaaraa. ||4|| he cannot go to God’s Court. ||4|| ਆਸਾ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਬੰਧਿ ਪਰਾਨਾ ॥ आसा अंदेसा बंधि पराना ॥ Aasaa anḋésaa banḋʰ paraanaa. The mortal is bound and gagged by hope and fear; ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਫਿਰਤ ਬਿਗਾਨਾ ॥੫॥ महलु न पावै फिरत बिगाना ॥५॥ Mahal na paavæ firaṫ bigaanaa. ||5|| he cannot find the Mansion of the Lord’s Presence, and so he wanders around like a stranger. ||5|| ਸਗਲ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨਾ ॥ सगल बिआधि कै वसि करि दीना ॥ Sagal bi▫aaḋʰ kæ vas kar ḋeenaa. He falls under the power of all negative influences; ਫਿਰਤ ਪਿਆਸ ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੀਨਾ ॥੬॥ फिरत पिआस जिउ जल बिनु मीना ॥६॥ Firaṫ pi▫aas ji▫o jal bin meenaa. ||6|| he wanders around thirsty like a fish out of water. ||6|| ਕਛੂ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਉਕਤਿ ਨ ਮੋਰੀ ॥ कछू सिआनप उकति न मोरी ॥ Kachʰoo si▫aanap ukaṫ na moree. I have no clever tricks or techniques; ਕਰਉ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੰਤਨ ਪਾਸੇ ॥ करउ बेनती संतन पासे ॥ Kara▫o bénṫee sanṫan paasé. Nanak offers this prayer to the Saints - ਏਕ ਆਸ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੋਰੀ ॥੭॥ एक आस ठाकुर प्रभ तोरी ॥७॥ Ék aas tʰaakur parabʰ ṫoree. ||7|| You are my only hope, O my Lord God Master. ||7|| ਮੇਲਿ ਲੈਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਰਦਾਸੇ ॥੮॥ मेलि लैहु नानक अरदासे ॥८॥ Mél læhu Naanak arḋaasé. ||8|| please let me merge and blend with You. ||8|| ਭਇਓ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ भइओ क्रिपालु साधसंगु पाइआ ॥ Bʰa▫i▫o kirpaal saaḋʰsang paa▫i▫aa. God has shown Mercy, and I have found the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ਨਾਨਕ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੧॥ नानक त्रिपते पूरा पाइआ ॥१॥ रहाउ दूजा ॥१॥ Naanak ṫaripṫæ pooraa paa▫i▫aa. ||1|| rahaa▫o ḋoojaa. ||1|| Nanak is satisfied, finding the Perfect Lord. ||1||Second Pause||1||
