ਸੂਰ ਸਰੁ ਸੋਸਿ ਲੈ ਸੋਮ ਸਰੁ ਪੋਖਿ ਲੈ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਮਰਤੁ ਸੁ ਸਨਬੰਧੁ ਕੀਜੈ ॥ सूर सरु सोसि लै सोम सरु पोखि लै जुगति करि मरतु सु सनबंधु कीजै ॥ Soor sar sos læ som sar pokʰ læ jugaṫ kar maraṫ so san▫banḋʰ keejæ. Heat up the sun energy of the right nostril, and cool down the moon energy of the left nostril; practicing this breath-control, bring them into perfect balance. ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ मारू महला १ ॥ Maaroo mėhlaa 1. Maaroo, First Mehl: ਮੀਨ ਕੀ ਚਪਲ ਸਿਉ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਖੀਐ ਉਡੈ ਨਹ ਹੰਸੁ ਨਹ ਕੰਧੁ ਛੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ मीन की चपल सिउ जुगति मनु राखीऐ उडै नह हंसु नह कंधु छीजै ॥१॥ Meen kee chapal si▫o jugaṫ man raakʰee▫æ udæ nah hans nah kanḋʰ chʰeejæ. ||1|| In this way, the fickle fish of the mind will be held steady; the swan-soul shall not fly away, and the body-wall will not crumble. ||1|| ਮੂੜੇ ਕਾਇਚੇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾ ॥ मूड़े काइचे भरमि भुला ॥ Mooṛé kaa▫iché bʰaram bʰulaa. You fool, why are you deluded by doubt? ਨਹ ਚੀਨਿਆ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦੁ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ नह चीनिआ परमानंदु बैरागी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Nah cheeni▫aa parmaananḋ bæraagee. ||1|| rahaa▫o. You do not remember the detached Lord of supreme bliss. ||1||Pause|| ਅਜਰ ਗਹੁ ਜਾਰਿ ਲੈ ਅਮਰ ਗਹੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਲੈ ਭ੍ਰਾਤਿ ਤਜਿ ਛੋਡਿ ਤਉ ਅਪਿਉ ਪੀਜੈ ॥ अजर गहु जारि लै अमर गहु मारि लै भ्राति तजि छोडि तउ अपिउ पीजै ॥ Ajar gahu jaar læ amar gahu maar læ bʰaraaṫ ṫaj chʰod ṫa▫o api▫o peejæ. The boat crosses over the water, carrying the true merchandise. ਮਾਇਆ ਮੁਈ ਨ ਮਨੁ ਮੁਆ ਸਰੁ ਲਹਰੀ ਮੈ ਮਤੁ ॥ माइआ मुई न मनु मुआ सरु लहरी मै मतु ॥ Maa▫i▫aa mu▫ee na man mu▫aa sar lahree mæ maṫ. Maya is not conquered, and the mind is not subdued; the waves of desire in the world-ocean are intoxicating wine.
