ਗਿਆਨੀ ਧਿਆਨੀ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਏ ॥
गिआनी धिआनी आखि सुणाए ॥
Gi▫aanee ḋʰi▫aanee aakʰ suṇaa▫é.
The spiritual teachers and meditators proclaim this.

ਸਭਨਾ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸਮਾਹੇ ਆਪੇ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਹੋਰ ਨ ਹੋਈ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
सभना रिजकु समाहे आपे कीमति होर न होई हे ॥२॥
Sabʰnaa rijak samaahé aapé keemaṫ hor na ho▫ee hé. ||2||
He Himself nourishes all; no one else can estimate His value. ||2||
|
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਅੰਧੁ ਅੰਧਾਰਾ ॥
माइआ मोहु अंधु अंधारा ॥
Maa▫i▫aa moh anḋʰ anḋʰaaraa.
Love and attachment to Maya are utter darkness.
|
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥
हउमै मेरा पसरिआ पासारा ॥
Ha▫umæ méraa pasri▫aa paasaaraa.
Egotism and possessiveness have spread throughout the expanse of the universe.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਲਤ ਰਹੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
अनदिनु जलत रहै दिनु राती गुर बिनु सांति न होई हे ॥३॥
An▫ḋin jalaṫ rahæ ḋin raaṫee gur bin saaⁿṫ na ho▫ee hé. ||3||
Night and day, they burn, day and night; without the Guru, there is no peace or tranquility. ||3||
|
ਆਪੇ ਜੋੜਿ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਆਪੇ ॥
आपे जोड़ि विछोड़े आपे ॥
Aapé joṛ vichʰoṛé aapé.
He Himself unites, and He Himself separates.
|
ਆਪੇ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪੇ ਆਪੇ ॥
आपे थापि उथापे आपे ॥
Aapé ṫʰaap uṫʰaapé aapé.
He Himself establishes, and He Himself disestablishes.
|
ਸਚਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਸਚਾ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ਹੋਰਨਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ਹੇ ॥੪॥
सचा हुकमु सचा पासारा होरनि हुकमु न होई हे ॥४॥
Sachaa hukam sachaa paasaaraa horan hukam na ho▫ee hé. ||4||
True is the Hukam of His Command, and True is the expanse of His universe. No one else can issue any Command. ||4||
|
ਆਪੇ ਲਾਇ ਲਏ ਸੋ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
आपे लाइ लए सो लागै ॥
Aapé laa▫é la▫é so laagæ.
He alone is attached to the Lord, whom the Lord attaches to Himself.
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਭਾਗੈ ॥
गुर परसादी जम का भउ भागै ॥
Gur parsaadee jam kaa bʰa▫o bʰaagæ.
By Guru’s Grace, the fear of death runs away.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਈ ਹੇ ॥੫॥
अंतरि सबदु सदा सुखदाता गुरमुखि बूझै कोई हे ॥५॥
Anṫar sabaḋ saḋaa sukʰ▫ḋaaṫa gurmukʰ boojʰæ ko▫ee hé. ||5||
The Shabad, the Giver of peace, dwells forever deep within the nucleus of the self. One who is Gurmukh understands. ||5||
|
ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
आपे मेले मेलि मिलाए ॥
Aapé mélé mél milaa▫é.
God Himself unites those united in His Union.
|
ਪੁਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੋ ਮੇਟਣਾ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥
पुरबि लिखिआ सो मेटणा न जाए ॥
Purab likʰi▫aa so métṇaa na jaa▫é.
Whatever is preordained by destiny, cannot be erased.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਹੋਈ ਹੇ ॥੬॥
अनदिनु भगति करे दिनु राती गुरमुखि सेवा होई हे ॥६॥
An▫ḋin bʰagaṫ karé ḋin raaṫee gurmukʰ sévaa ho▫ee hé. ||6||
Night and day, His devotees worship Him, day and night; one who becomes Gurmukh serves Him. ||6||
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
सतिगुरु सेवि सदा सुखु जाता ॥
Saṫgur sév saḋaa sukʰ jaaṫaa.
Serving the True Guru, lasting peace is experienced.
|
ਆਪੇ ਆਇ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ॥
आपे आइ मिलिआ सभना का दाता ॥
Aapé aa▫é mili▫aa sabʰnaa kaa ḋaaṫaa.
He Himself, the Giver of all, has come and met me.
|
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਚੀਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ਹੇ ॥੭॥
हउमै मारि त्रिसना अगनि निवारी सबदु चीनि सुखु होई हे ॥७॥
Ha▫umæ maar ṫarisnaa agan nivaaree sabaḋ cheen sukʰ ho▫ee hé. ||7||
Subduing egotism, the fire of thirst has been extinguished; contemplating the Word of the Shabad, peace is found. ||7||
|
ਕਾਇਆ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਨ ਬੂਝੈ ॥
काइआ कुट्मबु मोहु न बूझै ॥
Kaa▫i▫aa kutamb moh na boojʰæ.
One who is attached to his body and family, does not understand.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਤ ਆਖੀ ਸੂਝੈ ॥
गुरमुखि होवै त आखी सूझै ॥
Gurmukʰ hovæ ṫa aakʰee soojʰæ.
But one who becomes Gurmukh, sees the Lord with his eyes.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਵੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ਹੇ ॥੮॥
अनदिनु नामु रवै दिनु राती मिलि प्रीतम सुखु होई हे ॥८॥
An▫ḋin naam ravæ ḋin raaṫee mil pareeṫam sukʰ ho▫ee hé. ||8||
Night and day, he chants the Naam, day and night; meeting with his Beloved, he finds peace. ||8||
|
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਧਾਤੁ ਦੂਜੈ ਹੈ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
मनमुख धातु दूजै है लागा ॥
Manmukʰ ḋʰaaṫ ḋoojæ hæ laagaa.
The self-willed Manmukh wanders distracted, attached to duality.
|
ਜਨਮਤ ਕੀ ਨ ਮੂਓ ਆਭਾਗਾ ॥
जनमत की न मूओ आभागा ॥
Janmaṫ kee na moo▫o aabʰaagaa.
That unfortunate wretch - why didn’t he just die as soon as he was born?
|
ਆਵਤ ਜਾਤ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ਹੇ ॥੯॥
आवत जात बिरथा जनमु गवाइआ बिनु गुर मुकति न होई हे ॥९॥
Aavaṫ jaaṫ birṫʰaa janam gavaa▫i▫aa bin gur mukaṫ na ho▫ee hé. ||9||
Coming and going, he wastes away his life in vain. Without the Guru, liberation is not obtained. ||9||
|
ਕਾਇਆ ਕੁਸੁਧ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਲੁ ਲਾਈ ॥
काइआ कुसुध हउमै मलु लाई ॥
Kaa▫i▫aa kusuḋʰ ha▫umæ mal laa▫ee.
That body which is stained with the filth of egotism is false and impure.
|
ਜੇ ਸਉ ਧੋਵਹਿ ਤਾ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
जे सउ धोवहि ता मैलु न जाई ॥
Jé sa▫o ḋʰovėh ṫaa mæl na jaa▫ee.
It may be washed a hundred times, but its filth is still not removed.
|
ਸਬਦਿ ਧੋਪੈ ਤਾ ਹਛੀ ਹੋਵੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਮੈਲੀ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥
सबदि धोपै ता हछी होवै फिरि मैली मूलि न होई हे ॥१०॥
Sabaḋ ḋʰopæ ṫaa hachʰee hovæ fir mælee mool na ho▫ee hé. ||10||
But if it is washed with the Word of the Shabad, then it is truly cleansed, and it shall never be soiled again. ||10||
|
ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਕਾਇਆ ਸੰਘਾਰਹਿ ॥
पंच दूत काइआ संघारहि ॥
Panch ḋooṫ kaa▫i▫aa sangʰaarėh.
The five demons destroy the body.
|
ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਵੀਚਾਰਹਿ ॥
मरि मरि जंमहि सबदु न वीचारहि ॥
Mar mar jamėh sabaḋ na vichaarėh.
He dies and dies again, only to be reincarnated; he does not contemplate the Shabad.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ ਜਿਉ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਸੁਧਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥
अंतरि माइआ मोह गुबारा जिउ सुपनै सुधि न होई हे ॥११॥
Anṫar maa▫i▫aa moh gubaaraa ji▫o supnæ suḋʰ na ho▫ee hé. ||11||
The darkness of emotional attachment to Maya is within his inner being; as if in a dream, he does not understand. ||11||
|
ਇਕਿ ਪੰਚਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਹੈ ਲਾਗੇ ॥
इकि पंचा मारि सबदि है लागे ॥
Ik panchaa maar sabaḋ hæ laagé.
Some conquer the five demons by being attached to the Shabad.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਆਇ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਵਡਭਾਗੇ ॥
सतिगुरु आइ मिलिआ वडभागे ॥
Saṫgur aa▫é mili▫aa vadbʰaagé.
They are blessed and very fortunate; the True Guru comes to meet them.
|
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਰਵਹਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥
अंतरि साचु रवहि रंगि राते सहजि समावै सोई हे ॥१२॥
Anṫar saach ravėh rang raaṫé sahj samaavæ so▫ee hé. ||12||
Within the nucleus of their inner being, they dwell upon the Truth; attuned to the Lord’s Love, they intuitively merge in Him. ||12||
|
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਚਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਜਾਪੈ ॥
गुर की चाल गुरू ते जापै ॥
Gur kee chaal guroo ṫé jaapæ.
The Guru’s Way is known through the Guru.
|
ਪੂਰਾ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਿਞਾਪੈ ॥
पूरा सेवकु सबदि सिञापै ॥
Pooraa sévak sabaḋ siñaapæ.
His perfect servant attains realization through the Shabad.
|
ਸਦਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਰਵੈ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖੈ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥
सदा सबदु रवै घट अंतरि रसना रसु चाखै सचु सोई हे ॥१३॥
Saḋaa sabaḋ ravæ gʰat anṫar rasnaa ras chaakʰæ sach so▫ee hé. ||13||
Deep within his heart, he dwells forever upon the Shabad; he tastes the sublime essence of the True Lord with his tongue. ||13||
|
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥
हउमै मारे सबदि निवारे ॥
Ha▫umæ maaré sabaḋ nivaaré.
Egotism is conquered and subdued by the Shabad.
|
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖੈ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
हरि का नामु रखै उरि धारे ॥
Har kaa naam rakʰæ ur ḋʰaaré.
I have enshrined the Name of the Lord within my heart.
|
ਏਕਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਉ ਹੋਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਹੋਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥
एकसु बिनु हउ होरु न जाणा सहजे होइ सु होई हे ॥१४॥
Ékas bin ha▫o hor na jaaṇaa sėhjé ho▫é so ho▫ee hé. ||14||
Other than the One Lord, I know nothing at all. Whatever will be, will automatically be. ||14||
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਹਜੁ ਕਿਨੈ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
बिनु सतिगुर सहजु किनै नही पाइआ ॥
Bin saṫgur sahj kinæ nahee paa▫i▫aa.
Without the True Guru, no one obtains intuitive wisdom.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
गुरमुखि बूझै सचि समाइआ ॥
Gurmukʰ boojʰæ sach samaa▫i▫aa.
The Gurmukh understands, and is immersed in the True Lord.

ਸਚਾ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚ ਰਾਤੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦੇ ਖੋਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥
सचा सेवि सबदि सच राते हउमै सबदे खोई हे ॥१५॥
Sachaa sév sabaḋ sach raaṫé ha▫umæ sabḋé kʰo▫ee hé. ||15||
He serves the True Lord, and is attuned to the True Shabad. The Shabad banishes egotism. ||15||
|
ਆਪੇ ਗੁਣਦਾਤਾ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
आपे गुणदाता बीचारी ॥
Aapé guṇḋaaṫaa beechaaree.
He Himself is the Giver of virtue, the Contemplative Lord.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਪਕੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥
गुरमुखि देवहि पकी सारी ॥
Gurmukʰ ḋévėh pakee saaree.
The Gurmukh is given the winning dice.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਵਹਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਾਚੇ ਤੇ ਪਤਿ ਹੋਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੨॥
नानक नामि समावहि साचै साचे ते पति होई हे ॥१६॥२॥
Naanak naam samaavėh saachæ saaché ṫé paṫ ho▫ee hé. ||16||2||
O Nanak! Immersed in the Naam, the Name of the Lord, one becomes true; from the True Lord, honor is obtained. ||16||2||

ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਏਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ॥
जगजीवनु साचा एको दाता ॥
Jagjeevan saachaa éko ḋaaṫaa.
One True Lord is the Life of the World, the Great Giver.
|
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥
गुर सेवा ते सबदि पछाता ॥
Gur sévaa ṫé sabaḋ pachʰaaṫaa.
Serving the Guru, through the Word of the Shabad, He is realized.
