ਕਾਇਆ ਨਗਰ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਊਤਮੁ ਕਿਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਰਹੁ ॥
काइआ नगर महि राम रसु ऊतमु किउ पाईऐ उपदेसु जन करहु ॥
Kaa▫i▫aa nagar mėh raam ras ooṫam ki▫o paa▫ee▫æ upḋés jan karahu.
Within the body-village is the Lord’s supreme, sublime essence. How can I obtain it? Teach me, O humble Saints.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਫਲ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਅਹੁ ॥੨॥
सतिगुरु सेवि सफल हरि दरसनु मिलि अमृतु हरि रसु पीअहु ॥२॥
Saṫgur sév safal har ḋarsan mil amriṫ har ras pee▫ahu. ||2||
Serving the True Guru, you shall obtain the Fruitful Vision of the Lord’s Darshan. Meeting Him, drink the ambrosial essence of the Lord’s Nectar. ||2||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਮੀਠਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਚਾਖਿ ਦਿਖਹੁ ॥
हरि हरि नामु अमृतु हरि मीठा हरि संतहु चाखि दिखहु ॥
Har har naam amriṫ har meetʰaa har sanṫahu chaakʰ ḋikʰahu.
The Ambrosial Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is so sweet; O Saints of the Lord, taste it, and see.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਗਾ ਤਿਨ ਬਿਸਰੇ ਸਭਿ ਬਿਖ ਰਸਹੁ ॥੩॥
गुरमति हरि रसु मीठा लागा तिन बिसरे सभि बिख रसहु ॥३॥
Gurmaṫ har ras meetʰaa laagaa ṫin bisré sabʰ bikʰ rasahu. ||3||
Under Guru’s Instruction, the Lord’s essence seems so sweet; through it, all corrupt sensual pleasures are forgotten. ||3||

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸੁ ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇਣੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਹੁ ॥
राम नामु रसु राम रसाइणु हरि सेवहु संत जनहु ॥
Raam naam ras raam rasaa▫iṇ har sévhu sanṫ janhu.
The Name of the Lord is the medicine to cure all diseases; so serve the Lord, O humble Saints.

ਚਾਰਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਚਾਰੇ ਪਾਏ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਭਜਹੁ ॥੪॥੪॥
चारि पदारथ चारे पाए गुरमति नानक हरि भजहु ॥४॥४॥
Chaar paḋaaraṫʰ chaaré paa▫é gurmaṫ Naanak har bʰajahu. ||4||4||
The four great blessings are obtained, O Nanak! By vibrating upon the Lord, under Guru’s Instruction. ||4||4||

ਖਤ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣੁ ਸੂਦੁ ਵੈਸੁ ਕੋ ਜਾਪੈ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਜਪੈਨੀ ॥
खत्री ब्राहमणु सूदु वैसु को जापै हरि मंत्रु जपैनी ॥
Kʰaṫree baraahmaṇ sooḋ væs ko jaapæ har manṫar japænee.
Anyone, from any class - Kshatriya, Brahman, Soodra or Vaisya - can chant, and meditate on the Mantra of the Lord’s Name.

ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਪੂਜਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਸਭ ਰੈਨੀ ॥੧॥
गुरु सतिगुरु पारब्रहमु करि पूजहु नित सेवहु दिनसु सभ रैनी ॥१॥
Gur saṫgur paarbarahm kar poojahu niṫ sévhu ḋinas sabʰ rænee. ||1||
Worship the Guru, the True Guru, as the Supreme Lord God; serve Him constantly, all day and night. ||1||
|
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਨੈਨੀ ॥
हरि जन देखहु सतिगुरु नैनी ॥
Har jan ḋékʰhu saṫgur nænee.
O humble servants of the Lord, behold the True Guru with your eyes.

ਜੋ ਇਛਹੁ ਸੋਈ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲਹੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਬੈਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जो इछहु सोई फलु पावहु हरि बोलहु गुरमति बैनी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jo ichʰahu so▫ee fal paavhu har bolhu gurmaṫ bænee. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Whatever you wish for, you shall receive, chanting the Word of the Lord’s Name, under Guru’s Instruction. ||1||Pause||

ਅਨਿਕ ਉਪਾਵ ਚਿਤਵੀਅਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੇ ਸਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿ ਬਾਤ ਹੋਵੈਨੀ ॥
अनिक उपाव चितवीअहि बहुतेरे सा होवै जि बात होवैनी ॥
Anik upaav chiṫvee▫ah bahuṫéré saa hovæ jė baaṫ hovænee.
People think of many and various efforts, but that alone happens, which is to happen.

ਅਪਨਾ ਭਲਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ਬਾਛੈ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਜਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਚਿਤੈਨੀ ॥੨॥
अपना भला सभु कोई बाछै सो करे जि मेरै चिति न चितैनी ॥२॥
Apnaa bʰalaa sabʰ ko▫ee baachʰæ so karé jė méræ chiṫ na chiṫænee. ||2||
All beings seek goodness for themselves, but what the Lord does - that may not be what we think and expect. ||2||
|
ਮਨ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਤਿਆਗਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਏਹਾ ਬਾਤ ਕਠੈਨੀ ॥
मन की मति तिआगहु हरि जन एहा बात कठैनी ॥
Man kee maṫ ṫi▫aagahu har jan éhaa baaṫ katʰænee.
So, renounce the clever intellect of your mind, O humble servants of the Lord, no matter how hard this may be.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਲੈਨੀ ॥੩॥
अनदिनु हरि हरि नामु धिआवहु गुर सतिगुर की मति लैनी ॥३॥
An▫ḋin har har naam ḋʰi▫aavahu gur saṫgur kee maṫ lænee. ||3||
Night and day, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, Har, Har; accept the wisdom of the Guru, the True Guru. ||3||

ਮਤਿ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਵਸਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਮ ਜੰਤ ਤੂ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਜੰਤੈਨੀ ॥
मति सुमति तेरै वसि सुआमी हम जंत तू पुरखु जंतैनी ॥
Maṫ sumaṫ ṫéræ vas su▫aamee ham janṫ ṫoo purakʰ janṫænee.
Wisdom, balanced wisdom is in Your power, O Lord and Master; I am the instrument, and You are the player, O Primal Lord.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਰਤੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਬੁਲੈਨੀ ॥੪॥੫॥
जन नानक के प्रभ करते सुआमी जिउ भावै तिवै बुलैनी ॥४॥५॥
Jan Naanak ké parabʰ karṫé su▫aamee ji▫o bʰaavæ ṫivæ bulænee. ||4||5||
O God, O Creator, Lord and Master of servant Nanak, as You wish, so do I speak. ||4||5||

ਅਨਦ ਮੂਲੁ ਧਿਆਇਓ ਪੁਰਖੋਤਮੁ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਅਨਦ ਅਨੰਦੇ ॥
अनद मूलु धिआइओ पुरखोतमु अनदिनु अनद अनंदे ॥
Anaḋ mool ḋʰi▫aa▫i▫o purkʰoṫam an▫ḋin anaḋ ananḋé.
I meditate on the source of bliss, the Sublime Primal Being; night and day, I am in ecstasy and bliss.

ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਕੀ ਕਾਣਿ ਚੁਕਾਈ ਸਭਿ ਚੂਕੇ ਜਮ ਕੇ ਛੰਦੇ ॥੧॥
धरम राइ की काणि चुकाई सभि चूके जम के छंदे ॥१॥
Ḋʰaram raa▫é kee kaaṇ chukaa▫ee sabʰ chooké jam ké chʰanḋé. ||1||
The Righteous Judge of Dharma has no power over me; I have cast off all subservience to the Messenger of Death. ||1||
|
ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੋੁਬਿੰਦੇ ॥
जपि मन हरि हरि नामु गुोबिंदे ॥
Jap man har har naam gobinḋé.
Meditate, O mind, on the Naam, the Name of the Lord of the Universe.

ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
वडभागी गुरु सतिगुरु पाइआ गुण गाए परमानंदे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
vadbʰaagee gur saṫgur paa▫i▫aa guṇ gaa▫é parmaananḋé. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
By great good fortune, I have found the Guru, the True Guru; I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of supreme bliss. ||1||Pause||

ਸਾਕਤ ਮੂੜ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਬਧਿਕ ਵਿਚਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਫਿਰੰਦੇ ॥
साकत मूड़ माइआ के बधिक विचि माइआ फिरहि फिरंदे ॥
Saakaṫ mooṛ maa▫i▫aa ké baḋʰik vich maa▫i▫aa firėh firanḋé.
The foolish faithless cynics are held captive by Maya; in Maya, they continue wandering, wandering around.

ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਲਤ ਕਿਰਤ ਕੇ ਬਾਧੇ ਜਿਉ ਤੇਲੀ ਬਲਦ ਭਵੰਦੇ ॥੨॥
त्रिसना जलत किरत के बाधे जिउ तेली बलद भवंदे ॥२॥
Ṫarisnaa jalaṫ kiraṫ ké baaḋʰé ji▫o ṫélee balaḋ bʰavanḋé. ||2||
Burnt by desire, and bound by the karma of their past actions, they go round and round, like the ox at the mill press. ||2||
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵ ਲਗੇ ਸੇ ਉਧਰੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਰੰਦੇ ॥
गुरमुखि सेव लगे से उधरे वडभागी सेव करंदे ॥
Gurmukʰ sév lagé sé uḋʰré vadbʰaagee sév karanḋé.
The Gurmukhs, who focus on serving the Guru, are saved; by great good fortune, they perform service.

ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਭਿ ਤੂਟੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਫੰਦੇ ॥੩॥
जिन हरि जपिआ तिन फलु पाइआ सभि तूटे माइआ फंदे ॥३॥
Jin har japi▫aa ṫin fal paa▫i▫aa sabʰ ṫooté maa▫i▫aa fanḋé. ||3||
Those who meditate on the Lord obtain the fruits of their rewards, and the bonds of Maya are all broken. ||3||
|
ਆਪੇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਸਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੇ ॥
आपे ठाकुरु आपे सेवकु सभु आपे आपि गोविंदे ॥
Aapé tʰaakur aapé sévak sabʰ aapé aap govinḋé.
He Himself is the Lord and Master, and He Himself is the servant. The Lord of the Universe Himself is all by Himself.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਸਭੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਜਿਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਰਹੰਦੇ ॥੪॥੬॥
जन नानक आपे आपि सभु वरतै जिउ राखै तिवै रहंदे ॥४॥६॥
Jan Naanak aapé aap sabʰ varṫæ ji▫o raakʰæ ṫivæ rahanḋé. ||4||6||
O servant Nanak! He Himself is All-pervading; as He keeps us, we remain. ||4||6||

ਬੋਲਹੁ ਭਈਆ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨੋ ॥
बोलहु भईआ राम नामु पतित पावनो ॥
Bolhu bʰa▫ee▫aa raam naam paṫiṫ paavno.
O Siblings of Destiny, chant the Name of the Lord, the Purifier of sinners.

ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਭਗਤ ਤਾਰਨੋ ॥
हरि संत भगत तारनो ॥
Har sanṫ bʰagaṫ ṫaarno.
The Lord emancipates his Saints and devotees.
