so bUJY ijsu Awip buJwey ] (364-1)
so boojhai jis aap bujhaa-ay.
He alone understands, whom the Lord Himself inspires to understand.

gur prswdI syv krwey ]1] (364-1)
gur parsaadee sayv karaa-ay. ||1||
By Guru's Grace, one serves Him. ||1||

igAwn rqin sB soJI hoie ] (364-1)
gi-aan ratan sabh sojhee ho-ay.
With the jewel of spiritual wisdom, total understanding is obtained.

gur prswid AigAwnu ibnwsY Anidnu jwgY vyKY scu soie ]1] rhwau ] (364-2)
gur parsaad agi-aan binaasai an-din jaagai vaykhai sach so-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
By Guru's Grace, ignorance is dispelled; one then remains wakeful, night and day, and beholds the True Lord. ||1||Pause||

mohu gumwnu gur sbid jlwey ] (364-2)
moh gumaan gur sabad jalaa-ay.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, attachment and pride are burnt away.

pUry gur qy soJI pwey ] (364-3)
pooray gur tay sojhee paa-ay.
From the Perfect Guru, true understanding is obtained.

AMqir mhlu gur sbid pCwxY ] (364-3)
antar mahal gur sabad pachhaanai.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, one realizes the Lord's Presence within.

Awvx jwxu rhY iQru nwim smwxy ]2] (364-3)
aavan jaan rahai thir naam samaanay. ||2||
Then, one's coming and going cease, and one becomes stable, absorbed in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||

jMmxu mrxw hY sMswru ] (364-4)
jaman marnaa hai sansaar.
The world is tied to birth and death.

mnmuKu Acyqu mwieAw mohu gubwru ] (364-4)
manmukh achayt maa-i-aa moh gubaar.
The unconscious, self-willed manmukh is enveloped in the darkness of Maya and emotional attachment.

pr inMdw bhu kUVu kmwvY ] (364-4)
par nindaa baho koorh kamaavai.
He slanders others, and practices utter falsehood.

ivstw kw kIVw ivstw mwih smwvY ]3] (364-5)
vistaa kaa keerhaa vistaa maahi samaavai. ||3||
He is a maggot in manure, and into manure he is absorbed. ||3||

sqsMgiq imil sB soJI pwey ] (364-5)
satsangat mil sabh sojhee paa-ay.
Joining the True Congregation, the Sat Sangat, total understanding is obtained.

gur kw sbdu hir Bgiq idRVwey ] (364-5)
gur kaa sabad har bhagat drirh-aa-ay.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, devotional love for the Lord is implanted.

Bwxw mMny sdw suKu hoie ] (364-6)
bhaanaa mannay sadaa sukh ho-ay.
One who surrenders to the Lord's Will is peaceful forever.

naanak sach samaavai so-ay. ||4||10||49||
O Nanak, he is absorbed into the True Lord. ||4||10||49||

aasaa mehlaa 3 panchpaday.
Aasaa, Third Mehl, Panch-Padas:

sbid mrY iqsu sdw Anµd ] (364-7)
sabad marai tis sadaa anand.
One who dies in the Word of the Shabad, finds eternal bliss.

siqgur Byty gur goibMd ] (364-7)
satgur bhaytay gur gobind.
He is united with the True Guru, the Guru, the Lord God.

nw iPir mrY n AwvY jwie ] (364-7)
naa fir marai na aavai jaa-ay.
He does not die any more, and he does not come or go.

pUry gur qy swic smwie ]1] (364-7)
pooray gur tay saach samaa-ay. ||1||
Through the Perfect Guru, he merges with the True Lord. ||1||

jinH ka-o naam likhi-aa Dhur laykh.
One who has the Naam, the Name of the Lord, written in his pre-ordained destiny,

qy Anidnu nwmu sdw iDAwvih gur pUry qy Bgiq ivsyKu ]1] rhwau ] (364-8)
tay an-din naam sadaa Dhi-aavahi gur pooray tay bhagat visaykh. ||1|| rahaa-o.
night and day, meditates forever on the Naam; he obtains the wondrous blessing of devotional love from the Perfect Guru. ||1||Pause||

jinH ka-o har parabh la-ay milaa-ay.
Those, whom the Lord God has blended with Himself

iqn@ kI ghx giq khI n jwie ] (364-9)
tinH kee gahan gat kahee na jaa-ay.
- their sublime state cannot be described.

pUrY siqgur idqI vifAweI ] (364-10)
poorai satgur ditee vadi-aa-ee.
The Perfect True Guru has given the Glorious Greatness,

aUqm pdvI hir nwim smweI ]2] (364-10)
ootam padvee har naam samaa-ee. ||2||
of the most exalted order, and I am absorbed into the Lord's Name. ||2||

jo ikCu kry su Awpy Awip ] (364-10)
jo kichh karay so aapay aap.
Whatever the Lord does, He does all by Himself.

eyk GVI mih Qwip auQwip ] (364-11)
ayk gharhee meh thaap uthaap.
In an instant, He establishes, and disestablishes.

kih kih khxw AwiK suxwey ] jy sau Gwly Qwie n pwey ]3] (364-11)
kahi kahi kahnaa aakh sunaa-ay. jay sa-o ghaalay thaa-ay na paa-ay. ||3||
By merely speaking, talking, shouting and preaching about the Lord, even hundreds of times, the mortal is not approved. ||3||

jinH kai potai punn tinHaa guroo milaa-ay.
The Guru meets with those, who take virtue as their treasure;

scu bwxI guru sbdu suxwey ] (364-12)
sach banee gur sabad sunaa-ay.
they listen to the True Word of the Guru's Bani, the Shabad.

jhW sbdu vsY qhW duKu jwey ] (364-12)
jahaaN sabad vasai tahaaN dukh jaa-ay.
Pain departs, from that place where the Shabad abides.

igAwin rqin swcY shij smwey ]4] (364-13)
gi-aan ratan saachai sahj samaa-ay. ||4||
By the jewel of spiritual wisdom, one is easily absorbed into the True Lord. ||4||

nwvY jyvfu horu Dnu nwhI koie ] (364-13)
naavai jayvad hor Dhan naahee ko-ay.
No other wealth is as great as the Naam.

ijs no bKsy swcw soie ] (364-13)
jis no bakhsay saachaa so-ay.
It is bestowed only by the True Lord.

pUrY sbid mMin vswey ] (364-14)
poorai sabad man vasaa-ay.
Through the Perfect Word of the Shabad, it abides in the mind.

nwnk nwim rqy suKu pwey ]5]11]50] (364-14)
naanak naam ratay sukh paa-ay. ||5||11||50||
O Nanak, imbued with the Naam, peace is obtained. ||5||11||50||

Aasaa, Third Mehl:

inriq kry bhu vwjy vjwey ] (364-15)
nirat karay baho vaajay vajaa-ay.
One may dance and play numerous instruments;

iehu mnu AMDw bolw hY iksu AwiK suxwey ] (364-15)
ih man anDhaa bolaa hai kis aakh sunaa-ay.
but this mind is blind and deaf, so for whose benefit is this speaking and preaching?

AMqir loBu Brmu Anl vwau ] (364-15)
antar lobh bharam anal vaa-o.
Deep within is the fire of greed, and the dust-storm of doubt.

dIvw blY n soJI pwie ]1] (364-16)
deevaa balai na sojhee paa-ay. ||1||
The lamp of knowledge is not burning, and understanding is not obtained. ||1||

gurmuiK Bgiq Git cwnxu hoie ] (364-16)
gurmukh bhagat ghat chaanan ho-ay.
The Gurmukh has the light of devotional worship within his heart.

Awpu pCwix imlY pRBu soie ]1] rhwau ] (364-16)
aap pachhaan milai parabh so-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Understanding his own self, he meets God. ||1||Pause||

gurmuiK inriq hir lwgY Bwau ] (364-17)
gurmukh nirat har laagai bhaa-o.
The Gurmukh's dance is to embrace love for the Lord;

pUry qwl ivchu Awpu gvwie ] (364-17)
pooray taal vichahu aap gavaa-ay.
to the beat of the drum, he sheds his ego from within.

myrw pRBu swcw Awpy jwxu ] (364-17)
mayraa parabh saachaa aapay jaan.
My God is True; He Himself is the Knower of all.

gur kY sbid AMqir bRhmu pCwxu ]2] (364-18)
gur kai sabad antar barahm pachhaan. ||2||
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, recognize the Creator Lord within yourself. ||2||

gurmuiK Bgiq AMqir pRIiq ipAwru ] (364-18)
gurmukh bhagat antar pareet pi-aar.
The Gurmukh is filled with devotional love for the Beloved Lord.

gur kw sbdu shij vIcwru ] (364-19)
gur kaa sabad sahj veechaar.
He intuitively reflects upon the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

gurmuiK Bgiq jugiq scu soie ] (364-19)
gurmukh bhagat jugat sach so-ay.
For the Gurmukh, loving devotional worship is the way to the True Lord.

pwKMif Bgiq inriq duKu hoie ]3] (364-19)
pakhand bhagat nirat dukh ho-ay. ||3||
But the dances and the worship of the hypocrites bring only pain. ||3||
