kanchan kaa-i-aa jot anoop.
His body becomes golden, by the Lord's Incomparable Light.

iqRBvx dyvw sgl srUpu ] (414-1)
taribhavan dayvaa sagal saroop.
He beholds the divine beauty in all the three worlds.

mY so Dnu plY swcu AKUtu ]4] (414-1)
mai so Dhan palai saach akhoot. ||4||
That inexhaustible wealth of Truth is now in my lap. ||4||

pMc qIin nv cwir smwvY ] (414-2)
panch teen nav chaar samaavai.
In the five elements, the three worlds, the nine regions and the four directions, the Lord is pervading.

Drix ggnu kl Dwir rhwvY ] (414-2)
Dharan gagan kal Dhaar rahaavai.
He supports the earth and the sky, exercising His almighty power.

bwhir jwqau aulit prwvY ]5] (414-2)
baahar jaata-o ulat paraavai. ||5||
He turns the outgoing mind around. ||5||

mUrKu hoie n AwKI sUJY ] (414-3)
moorakh ho-ay na aakhee soojhai.
The fool does not realize what he sees with his eyes.

ijhvw rsu nhI kihAw bUJY ] (414-3)
jihvaa ras nahee kahi-aa boojhai.
He does not taste with his tongue, and does not understand what is said.

ibKu kw mwqw jg isau lUJY ]6] (414-3)
bikh kaa maataa jag si-o loojhai. ||6||
Intoxicated with poison, he argues with the world. ||6||

aUqm sMgiq aUqmu hovY ] (414-3)
ootam sangat ootam hovai.
In the uplifting society, one is uplifted.

gux kau DwvY Avgx DovY ] (414-4)
gun ka-o Dhaavai avgan Dhovai.
He chases after virtue and washes off his sins.

ibnu gur syvy shju n hovY ]7] (414-4)
bin gur sayvay sahj na hovai. ||7||
Without serving the Guru, celestial poise is not obtained. ||7||

hIrw nwmu jvyhr lwlu ] (414-4)
heeraa naam javayhar laal.
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is a diamond, a jewel, a ruby.

mnu moqI hY iqs kw mwlu ] (414-5)
man motee hai tis kaa maal.
The pearl of the mind is the inner wealth.

nwnk prKY ndir inhwlu ]8]5] (414-5)
naanak parkhai nadar nihaal. ||8||5||
O Nanak, the Lord tests us, and blesses us with His Glance of Grace. ||8||5||

Aasaa, First Mehl:

gurmuiK igAwnu iDAwnu min mwnu ] (414-5)
gurmukh gi-aan Dhi-aan man maan.
The Gurmukh obtains spiritual wisdom, meditation and satisfaction of the mind.

gurmuiK mhlI mhlu pCwnu ] (414-6)
gurmukh mahlee mahal pachhaan.
The Gurmukh realizes the Mansion of the Lord's Presence.

gurmuiK suriq sbdu nIswnu ]1] (414-6)
gurmukh surat sabad neesaan. ||1||
The Gurmukh is attuned to the Word of the Shabad, as his Insignia. ||1||

AYsy pRym Bgiq vIcwrI ] (414-6)
aisay paraym bhagat veechaaree.
Such is the loving devotional worship of the Lord's contemplation.

gurmuiK swcw nwmu murwrI ]1] rhwau ] (414-7)
gurmukh saachaa naam muraaree. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The Gurmukh realizes the True Name, the Destroyer of ego. ||1||Pause||

Aihinis inrmlu Qwin suQwnu ] (414-7)
ahinis nirmal thaan suthaan.
Day and night, he remains immaculately pure, and abides in the sublime place.

qIn Bvn inhkyvl igAwnu ] (414-8)
teen bhavan nihkayval gi-aan.
He gains the wisdom of the three worlds.

swcy gur qy hukmu pCwnu ]2] (414-8)
saachay gur tay hukam pachhaan. ||2||
Through the True Guru, the Command of the Lord's Will is realized. ||2||

swcw hrKu nwhI iqsu sogu ] (414-8)
saachaa harakh naahee tis sog.
He enjoys true pleasure, and suffers no pain.

AMimRqu igAwnu mhw rsu Bogu ] (414-9)
amrit gi-aan mahaa ras bhog.
He enjoys the ambrosial wisdom, and the highest sublime essence.

pMc smweI suKI sBu logu ]3] (414-9)
panch samaa-ee sukhee sabh log. ||3||
He overcomes the five evil passions, and becomes the happiest of all men. ||3||

sglI joiq qyrw sBu koeI ] (414-9)
saglee jot tayraa sabh ko-ee.
Your Divine Light is contained in all; everyone belongs to You.

Awpy joiV ivCoVy soeI ] (414-9)
aapay jorh vichhorhay so-ee.
You Yourself join and separate again.

Awpy krqw kry su hoeI ]4] (414-10)
aapay kartaa karay so ho-ee. ||4||
Whatever the Creator does, comes to pass. ||4||

Fwih auswry hukim smwvY ] (414-10)
dhaahi usaaray hukam samaavai.
He demolishes, and He builds; by His Order, he merges us into Himself.

hukmo vrqY jo iqsu BwvY ] (414-10)
hukmo vartai jo tis bhaavai.
Whatever is pleasing to His Will, happens.

gur ibnu pUrw koie n pwvY ]5] (414-11)
gur bin pooraa ko-ay na paavai. ||5||
Without the Guru, no one obtains the Perfect Lord. ||5||

bwlk ibriD n suriq prwin ] (414-11)
baalak biraDh na surat paraan.
In childhood and old age, he does not understand.

Bir jobin bUfY AiBmwin ] (414-11)
bhar joban boodai abhimaan.
In the prime of youth, he is drowned in his pride.

ibnu nwvY ikAw lhis indwin ]6] (414-12)
bin naavai ki-aa lahas nidaan. ||6||
Without the Name, what can the fool obtain? ||6||

ijs kw Anu Dnu shij n jwnw ] (414-12)
jis kaa an Dhan sahj na jaanaa.
He does not know the One who blesses him with nourishment and wealth.

Brim Bulwnw iPir pCuqwnw ] (414-12)
bharam bhulaanaa fir pachhutaanaa.
Deluded by doubt, he later regrets and repents.

gil PwhI baurw baurwnw ]7] (414-13)
gal faahee ba-uraa ba-uraanaa. ||7||
The noose of death is around the neck of that crazy madman. ||7||

bUfq jgu dyiKAw qau fir Bwgy ] (414-13)
boodat jag daykhi-aa ta-o dar bhaagay.
I saw the world drowning, and I ran away in fear.

siqguir rwKy sy vfBwgy ] (414-13)
satgur raakhay say vadbhaagay.
How very fortunate are those who have been saved by the True Guru.

nwnk gur kI crxI lwgy ]8]6] (414-14)
naanak gur kee charnee laagay. ||8||6||
O Nanak, they are attached to the feet of the Guru. ||8||6||

Aasaa, First Mehl:

gwvih gIqy cIiq AnIqy ] (414-14)
gaavahi geetay cheet aneetay.
They sing religious songs, but their consciousness is wicked.

rwg suxwie khwvih bIqy ] (414-15)
raag sunaa-ay kahaaveh beetay.
They sing the songs, and call themselves divine,

ibnu nwvY min JUTu AnIqy ]1] (414-15)
bin naavai man jhooth aneetay. ||1||
but without the Name, their minds are false and wicked. ||1||

khw clhu mn rhhu Gry ] (414-15)
kahaa chalhu man rahhu gharay.
Where are you going? O mind, remain in your own home.

gurmuiK rwm nwim iqRpqwsy Kojq pwvhu shij hry ]1] rhwau ] (414-15)
gurmukh raam naam tariptaasay khojat paavhu sahj haray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The Gurmukhs are satisfied with the Lord's Name; searching, they easily find the Lord. ||1||Pause||

kwmu k®oDu min mohu srIrw ] (414-16)
kaam kroDh man moh sareeraa.
Sexual desire, anger and emotional attachment fill the mind and body;

lbu loBu AhMkwru su pIrw ] (414-16)
lab lobh ahaNkaar so peeraa.
greed and egotism lead only to pain.

rwm nwm ibnu ikau mnu DIrw ]2] (414-17)
raam naam bin ki-o man Dheeraa. ||2||
How can the mind be comforted without the Lord's Name? ||2||

AMqir nwvxu swcu pCwxY ] (414-17)
antar naavan saach pachhaanai.
One who cleanses himself within, knows the True Lord.

AMqr kI giq gurmuiK jwxY ] (414-17)
antar kee gat gurmukh jaanai.
The Gurmukh knows the condition of his innermost being.

swc sbd ibnu mhlu n pCwxY ]3] (414-18)
saach sabad bin mahal na pachhaanai. ||3||
Without the True Word of the Shabad, the Mansion of the Lord's Presence is not realized. ||3||

inrMkwr mih Awkwru smwvY ] (414-18)
nirankaar meh aakaar samaavai.
One who merges his form into the Formless Lord,

Akl klw scu swic itkwvY ] (414-19)
akal kalaa sach saach tikaavai.
abides in the True Lord, the Powerful, beyond power.

so nru grB join nhI AwvY ]4] (414-19)
so nar garabh jon nahee aavai. ||4||
Such a person does not enter into the womb of reincarnation again. ||4||

jhW nwmu imlY qh jwau ] (414-19)
jahaaN naam milai tah jaa-o.
Go there, where you may obtain the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
