dojak paa-ay sirjanhaarai laykhaa mangai baanee-aa. ||2||
They are consigned to hell by the Creator Lord, and the Accountant calls them to give their account. ||2||

sMig n koeI BeIAw bybw ] (1020-1)
sang na ko-ee bha-ee-aa baybaa.
No brothers or sisters can go with them.

mwlu jobnu Dnu Coif v\ysw ] (1020-1)
maal joban Dhan chhod vanjaysaa.
Leaving behind their property, youth and wealth, they march off.

krx krIm n jwqo krqw iql pIVy ijau GwxIAw ]3] (1020-2)
karan kareem na jaato kartaa til peerhay ji-o ghaanee-aa. ||3||
They do not know the kind and compassionate Lord; they shall be crushed like sesame seeds in the oil-press. ||3||

Kuis Kuis lYdw vsqu prweI ] (1020-2)
khus khus laidaa vasat paraa-ee.
You happily, cheerfully steal the possessions of others,

vyKY suxy qyrY nwil KudweI ] (1020-3)
vaykhai sunay tayrai naal khudaa-ee.
but the Lord God is with you, watching and listening.

dunIAw lib pieAw Kwq AMdir AglI gl n jwxIAw ]4] (1020-3)
dunee-aa lab pa-i-aa khaat andar aglee gal na jaanee-aa. ||4||
Through worldly greed, you have fallen into the pit; you know nothing of the future. ||4||

jim jim mrY mrY iPir jMmY ] (1020-4)
jam jam marai marai fir jammai.
You shall be born and born again, and die and die again, only to be reincarnated again.

bhuqu sjwie pieAw dyis lµmY ] (1020-4)
bahut sajaa-ay pa-i-aa days lammai.
You shall suffer terrible punishment, on your way to the land beyond.

ijin kIqw iqsY n jwxI AMDw qw duKu shY prwxIAw ]5] (1020-4)
jin keetaa tisai na jaanee anDhaa taa dukh sahai paraanee-aa. ||5||
The mortal does not know the One who created him; he is blind, and so he shall suffer. ||5||

Kwlk Qwvhu Bulw muTw ] (1020-5)
khaalak thaavhu bhulaa muthaa.
Forgetting the Creator Lord, he is ruined.

dunIAw Kylu burw ruT quTw ] (1020-5)
dunee-aa khayl buraa ruth tuthaa.
The drama of the world is bad; it brings sadness and then happiness.

isdku sbUrI sMqu n imilE vqY Awpx BwxIAw ]6] (1020-6)
sidak sabooree sant na mili-o vatai aapan bhaanee-aa. ||6||
One who does not meet the Saint does not have faith or contentment; he wanders just as he pleases. ||6||

maulw Kyl kry siB Awpy ] ieik kFy ieik lhir ivAwpy ] (1020-6)
ma-ulaa khayl karay sabh aapay. ik kadhay ik lahar vi-aapay.
The Lord Himself stages all this drama. Some, he lifts up, and some he throws into the waves.

ijau ncwey iqau iqau ncin isir isir ikrq ivhwxIAw ]7] (1020-7)
ji-o nachaa-ay ti-o ti-o nachan sir sir kirat vihaanee-aa. ||7||
As He makes them dance, so do they dance. Everyone lives their lives according to their past actions. ||7||

imhr kry qw Ksmu iDAweI ] (1020-8)
mihar karay taa khasam Dhi-aa-ee.
When the Lord and Master grants His Grace, then we meditate on Him.

sMqw sMgiq nrik n pweI ] (1020-8)
santaa sangat narak na paa-ee.
In the Society of the Saints, one is not consigned to hell.

amrit naam daan naanak ka-o gun geetaa nit vakhaanee-aa. ||8||2||8||12||20||

ji-o bhaavai ti-o raakho rahnaa tum si-o ki-aa mukraa-ee hay. ||1||
As it pleases You, so You keep me, and so I remain; what excuse could I offer to You? ||1||

aap upaa-ay aap khapaa-ay.
You Yourself create, and You Yourself destroy.

Awpy isir isir DMDY lwey ] (1020-12)
aapay sir sir DhanDhai laa-ay.
You yourself link each and every person to their tasks.

aapay veechaaree gunkaaree aapay maarag laa-ee hay. ||2||
You contemplate Yourself, You Yourself make us worthy; You Yourself place us on the Path. ||2||

aapay daanaa aapay beenaa.
You Yourself are all-wise, You Yourself are all-knowing.

Awpy Awpu aupwie pqInw ] (1020-13)
aapay aap upaa-ay pateenaa.
You Yourself created the Universe, and You are pleased.

aapay pa-un paanee baisantar aapay mayl milaa-ee hay. ||3||
You Yourself are the air, water and fire; You Yourself unite in Union. ||3||

aapay sas sooraa pooro pooraa.
You Yourself are the moon, the sun, the most perfect of the perfect.

Awpy igAwin iDAwin guru sUrw ] (1020-14)
aapay gi-aan Dhi-aan gur sooraa.
You Yourself are spiritual wisdom, meditation, and the Guru, the Warrior Hero.

kaal jaal jam johi na saakai saachay si-o liv laa-ee hay. ||4||
The Messenger of Death, and his noose of death, cannot touch one, who is lovingly focused on You, O True Lord. ||4||

You Yourself are the male, and You Yourself are the female.

aapay paasaa aapay saaree.

aapay pirh baaDhee jag khaylai aapay keemat paa-ee hay. ||5||
You Yourself staged the drama in the arena of the world, and You Yourself evaluate the players. ||5||

Awpy Bvru Pulu Plu qrvru ] (1020-16)
aapay bhavar ful fal tarvar.
You Yourself are the bumble bee, the flower, the fruit and the tree.

Awpy jlu Qlu swgru srvru ] (1020-17)
aapay jal thal saagar sarvar.
You Yourself are the water, the desert, the ocean and the pool.

Awpy mCu kCu krxIkru qyrw rUpu n lKxw jweI hy ]6] (1020-17)
aapay machh kachh karneekar tayraa roop na lakh-naa jaa-ee hay. ||6||
You Yourself are the great fish, the tortoise, the Cause of causes; Your form cannot be known. ||6||

aapay dinas aapay hee rainee.
You Yourself are the day, and You Yourself are the night.

aap pateejai gur kee bainee.
You Yourself are pleased by the Word of the Guru's Bani.

Awid jugwid Anwhid Anidnu Git Git sbdu rjweI hy ]7] (1020-18)
aad jugaad anaahad an-din ghat ghat sabad rajaa-ee hay. ||7||
From the very beginning, and throughout the ages, the unstruck sound current resounds, night and day; in each and every heart, the Word of the Shabad, echoes Your Will. ||7||

aapay ratan anoop amolo.
You Yourself are the jewel, incomparably beautiful and priceless.

aapay parkhay pooraa tolo.
You Yourself are the Assessor, the Perfect Weigher.
