ga-orhee kabeer jee.
Gauree, Kabeer Jee:

AMDkwr suiK kbih n soeI hY ] (325-1)
anDhkaar sukh kabeh na so-ee hai.
In the darkness, no one can sleep in peace.

rwjw rMku doaU imil roeI hY ]1] (325-1)
raajaa rank do-oo mil ro-ee hai. ||1||
The king and the pauper both weep and cry. ||1||

jau pY rsnw rwmu n kihbo ] (325-1)
ja-o pai rasnaa raam na kahibo.
As long as the tongue does not chant the Lord's Name,

aupjq ibnsq rovq rihbo ]1] rhwau ] (325-2)
upjat binsat rovat rahibo. ||1|| rahaa-o.
the person continues coming and going in reincarnation, crying out in pain. ||1||Pause||

js dyKIAY qrvr kI CwieAw ] (325-2)
jas daykhee-ai tarvar kee chhaa-i-aa.
It is like the shadow of a tree;

pRwn gey khu kw kI mwieAw ]2] (325-3)
paraan ga-ay kaho kaa kee maa-i-aa. ||2||
when the breath of life passes out of the mortal being, tell me, what becomes of his wealth? ||2||

js jMqI mih jIau smwnw ] (325-3)
jas jantee meh jee-o samaanaa.
It is like the music contained in the instrument;

mUey mrmu ko kw kr jwnw ]3] (325-3)
moo-ay maram ko kaa kar jaanaa. ||3||
how can anyone know the secret of the dead? ||3||

hMsw srvru kwlu srIr ] (325-4)
hansaa sarvar kaal sareer.
Like the swan on the lake, death hovers over the body.

rwm rswien pIau ry kbIr ]4]8] (325-4)
raam rasaa-in pee-o ray kabeer. ||4||8||
Drink in the Lord's sweet elixir, Kabeer. ||4||8||

Gauree, Kabeer Jee:

joiq kI jwiq jwiq kI joqI ] (325-4)
jot kee jaat jaat kee jotee.
The creation is born of the Light, and the Light is in the creation.

iqqu lwgy kMcUAw Pl moqI ]1] (325-5)
tit laagay kanchoo-aa fal motee. ||1||
It bears two fruits: the false glass and the true pearl. ||1||

kvnu su Gru jo inrBau khIAY ] (325-5)
kavan so ghar jo nirbha-o kahee-ai.
Where is that home, which is said to be free of fear?

Bau Bij jwie ABY hoie rhIAY ]1] rhwau ] (325-5)
bha-o bhaj jaa-ay abhai ho-ay rahee-ai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
There, fear is dispelled and one lives without fear. ||1||Pause||

qit qIriQ nhI mnu pqIAwie ] (325-6)
tat tirath nahee man patee-aa-ay.
On the banks of sacred rivers, the mind is not appeased.

cwr Acwr rhy aurJwie ]2] (325-6)
chaar achaar rahay urjhaa-ay. ||2||
People remain entangled in good and bad deeds. ||2||

pwp puMn duie eyk smwn ] (325-7)
paap punn du-ay ayk samaan.
Sin and virtue are both the same.

inj Gir pwrsu qjhu gun Awn ]3] (325-7)
nij ghar paaras tajahu gun aan. ||3||
In the home of your own being, is the Philosopher's Stone; renounce your search for any other virtue. ||3||

kabeer nirgun naam na ros.
Kabeer: O worthless mortal, do not lose the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

is parchaa-ay parach rahu ays. ||4||9||
Keep this mind of yours involved in this involvement. ||4||9||

Gauree, Kabeer Jee:

jo jn primiq prmnu jwnw ] (325-8)
jo jan parmit parman jaanaa.
He claims to know the Lord, who is beyond measure and beyond thought;

bwqn hI bYkuMT smwnw ]1] (325-8)
baatan hee baikunth samaanaa. ||1||
by mere words, he plans to enter heaven. ||1||

nw jwnw bYkuMT khw hI ] (325-9)
naa jaanaa baikunth kahaa hee.
I do not know where heaven is.

jwnu jwnu siB khih qhw hI ]1] rhwau ] (325-9)
jaan jaan sabh kaheh tahaa hee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Everyone claims that he plans to go there. ||1||Pause||

khn khwvn nh pqIAeI hY ] (325-9)
kahan kahaavan nah patee-a-ee hai.
By mere talk, the mind is not appeased.

qau mnu mwnY jw qy haumY jeI hY ]2] (325-10)
ta-o man maanai jaa tay ha-umai ja-ee hai. ||2||
The mind is only appeased, when egotism is conquered. ||2||

jb lgu min bYkuMT kI Aws ] (325-10)
jab lag man baikunth kee aas.
As long as the mind is filled with the desire for heaven,

qb lgu hoie nhI crn invwsu ]3] (325-11)
tab lag ho-ay nahee charan nivaas. ||3||
he does not dwell at the Lord's Feet. ||3||

khu kbIr ieh khIAY kwih ] (325-11)
kaho kabeer ih kahee-ai kaahi.
Says Kabeer, unto whom should I tell this?

swDsMgiq bYkuMTY Awih ]4]10] (325-11)
saaDhsangat baikunthay aahi. ||4||10||
The Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, is heaven. ||4||10||

Gauree, Kabeer Jee:

aupjY inpjY inpij smweI ] (325-12)
upjai nipjai nipaj samaa-ee.
We are born, and we grow, and having grown, we pass away.

nYnh dyKq iehu jgu jweI ]1] (325-12)
nainah daykhat ih jag jaa-ee. ||1||
Before our very eyes, this world is passing away. ||1||

lwj n mrhu khhu Gru myrw ] (325-12)
laaj na marahu kahhu ghar mayraa.
How can you not die of shame, claiming, "This world is mine"?

AMq kI bwr nhI kCu qyrw ]1] rhwau ] (325-13)
ant kee baar nahee kachh tayraa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
At the very last moment, nothing is yours. ||1||Pause||

Aink jqn kir kwieAw pwlI ] (325-13)
anik jatan kar kaa-i-aa paalee.
Trying various methods, you cherish your body,

mrqI bwr Agin sMig jwlI ]2] (325-14)
martee baar agan sang jaalee. ||2||
but at the time of death, it is burned in the fire. ||2||

coAw cMdnu mrdn AMgw ] (325-14)
cho-aa chandan mardan angaa.
You apply sandalwood oil to your limbs,

so qnu jlY kwT kY sMgw ]3] (325-14)
so tan jalai kaath kai sangaa. ||3||
but that body is burned with the firewood. ||3||

khu kbIr sunhu ry gunIAw ] (325-15)
kaho kabeer sunhu ray gunee-aa.
Says Kabeer, listen, O virtuous people:

ibnsYgo rUpu dyKY sB dunIAw ]4]11] (325-15)
binsaigo roop daykhai sabh dunee-aa. ||4||11||
your beauty shall vanish, as the whole world watches. ||4||11||

ga-orhee kabeer jee.
Gauree, Kabeer Jee:

Avr mUey ikAw sogu krIjY ] (325-15)
avar moo-ay ki-aa sog kareejai.
Why do you cry and mourn, when another person dies?

qau kIjY jau Awpn jIjY ]1] (325-16)
ta-o keejai ja-o aapan jeejai. ||1||
Do so only if you yourself are to live. ||1||

mY n mrau mirbo sMswrw ] (325-16)
mai na mara-o maribo sansaaraa.
I shall not die as the rest of the world dies,

Ab moih imilE hY jIAwvnhwrw ]1] rhwau ] (325-16)
ab mohi mili-o hai jee-aavanhaaraa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
for now I have met the life-giving Lord. ||1||Pause||

ieAw dyhI prml mhkMdw ] (325-17)
i-aa dayhee parmal mahkandaa.
People anoint their bodies with fragrant oils,

qw suK ibsry prmwnµdw ]2] (325-17)
taa sukh bisray parmaanandaa. ||2||
and in that pleasure, they forget the supreme bliss. ||2||

kUAtw eyku pMc pinhwrI ] (325-18)
koo-ataa ayk panch panihaaree.
There is one well, and five water-carriers.

tUtI lwju BrY miq hwrI ]3] (325-18)
tootee laaj bharai mat haaree. ||3||
Even though the rope is broken, the fools continue trying to draw water. ||3||

khu kbIr iek buiD bIcwrI ] (325-18)
kaho kabeer ik buDh beechaaree.
Says Kabeer, through contemplation, I have obtained this one understanding.

nw Ehu kUAtw nw pinhwrI ]4]12] (325-19)
naa oh koo-ataa naa panihaaree. ||4||12||
There is no well, and no water-carrier. ||4||12||

asthaavar jangam keet patangaa.
The mobile and immobile creatures, insects and moths

anik janam kee-ay baho rangaa. ||1||
- in numerous lifetimes, I have passed through those many forms. ||1||
