kaho naanak gun gaa-ee-ah neet.
Says Nanak, sing continually the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

mukh oojal ho-ay nirmal cheet. ||4||19||
Your face shall be radiant, and your consciousness shall be immaculately pure. ||4||19||

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:

nau iniD qyrY sgl inDwn ] (376-2)
na-o niDh tayrai sagal niDhaan.
The nine treasures are Yours - all treasures are Yours.

ichhaa poorak rakhai nidaan. ||1||
The Fulfiller of desires saves mortals in the end. ||1||

tooN mayro pi-aaro taa kaisee bhookhaa.
You are my Beloved, so what hunger can I have?

tooN man vasi-aa lagai na dookhaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
When You dwell within my mind, pain does not touch me. ||1||Pause||

jo tooN karahi so-ee parvaan.
Whatever You do, is acceptable to me.

saachay saahib tayraa sach furmaan. ||2||
O True Lord and Master, True is Your Order. ||2||

jaa tuDh bhaavai taa har gun gaa-o.
When it is pleasing to Your Will, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

qyrY Gir sdw sdw hY inAwau ]3] (376-4)
tayrai ghar sadaa sadaa hai ni-aa-o. ||3||
Within Your Home, there is justice, forever and ever. ||3||

saachay saahib alakh abhayv.
O True Lord and Master, You are unknowable and mysterious.

naanak laa-i-aa laagaa sayv. ||4||20||
Nanak is committed to Your service. ||4||20||

nikat jee-a kai sad hee sangaa.
He is near at hand; He is the eternal Companion of the soul.

kudrat vartai roop ar rangaa. ||1||
His Creative Power is all-pervading, in form and color. ||1||

krHY n JurY nw mnu rovnhwrw ] (376-6)
karHai na jhurai naa man rovanhaaraa.
My mind does not worry; it does not grieve, or cry out.

AivnwsI Aivgqu Agocru sdw slwmiq Ksmu hmwrw ]1] rhwau ] (376-6)
avinaasee avigat agochar sadaa salaamat khasam hamaaraa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Imperishable, Unshakable, Unapproachable and forever safe and sound is my Husband Lord. ||1||Pause||

qyry dwsry kau iks kI kwix ] (376-7)
tayray daasray ka-o kis kee kaan.
Unto whom does Your servant pay homage?

ijs kI mIrw rwKY Awix ]2] (376-7)
jis kee meeraa raakhai aan. ||2||
His King preserves his honor. ||2||

jo laufw pRiB kIAw Ajwiq ] (376-7)
jo la-udaa parabh kee-aa ajaat.
That slave, whom God has released from the restrictions of social status

iqsu laufy kau iks kI qwiq ]3] (376-8)
tis la-uday ka-o kis kee taat. ||3||
- who can now hold him in bondage? ||3||

vymuhqwjw vyprvwhu ] (376-8)
vaymuhtaajaa vayparvaahu.
The Lord is absolutely independent, and totally care-free;

naanak daas kahhu gur vaahu. ||4||21||
O servant Nanak, chant His Glorious Praises. ||4||21||

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:

hir rsu Coif hoCY ris mwqw ] (376-9)
har ras chhod hochhai ras maataa.
Forsaking the Lord's sublime essence, the mortal is intoxicated with false essences.

Gr mih vsqu bwhir auiT jwqw ]1] (376-9)
ghar meh vasat baahar uth jaataa. ||1||
The substance is within the home of the self, but the mortal goes out to find it. ||1||

sunI n jweI scu AMimRq kwQw ] (376-10)
sunee na jaa-ee sach amrit kaathaa.
He cannot hear the true ambrosial discourse.

rwir krq JUTI lig gwQw ]1] rhwau ] (376-10)
raar karat jhoothee lag gaathaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Attached to false scriptures, he is engaged in argument. ||1||Pause||

vjhu swihb kw syv ibrwnI ] (376-10)
vajahu saahib kaa sayv biraanee.
He takes his wages from his Lord and Master, but he serves another.

AYsy gunh ACwidE pRwnI ]2] (376-11)
aisay gunah achhaadi-o paraanee. ||2||
With such sins, the mortal is engrossed. ||2||

iqsu isau lUk jo sd hI sMgI ] (376-11)
tis si-o look jo sad hee sangee.
He tries to hide from the One who is always with him.

kwim n AwvY so iPir iPir mMgI ]3] (376-11)
kaam na aavai so fir fir mangee. ||3||
He begs from Him, again and again. ||3||

khu nwnk pRB dIn dieAwlw ] (376-12)
kaho naanak parabh deen da-i-aalaa.
Says Nanak, God is merciful to the meek.

ijau BwvY iqau kir pRiqpwlw ]4]22] (376-12)
ji-o bhaavai ti-o kar partipaalaa. ||4||22||
As it pleases Him, He cherishes us. ||4||22||

jIA pRwn Dnu hir ko nwmu ] (376-13)
jee-a paraan Dhan har ko naam.
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is my soul, my life, my wealth.

eIhw aUhW aun sMig kwmu ]1] (376-13)
eehaa oohaaN un sang kaam. ||1||
Here and hereafter, it is with me, to help me. ||1||

ibnu hir nwm Avru sBu Qorw ] (376-13)
bin har naam avar sabh thoraa.
Without the Lord's Name, everything else is useless.

iqRpiq AGwvY hir drsin mnu morw ]1] rhwau ] (376-14)
taripat aghaavai har darsan man moraa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
My mind is satisfied and satiated by the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan. ||1||Pause||

Bgiq BMfwr gurbwxI lwl ] (376-14)
bhagat bhandaar gurbaanee laal.
Gurbani is the jewel, the treasure of devotion.

gwvq sunq kmwvq inhwl ]2] (376-15)
gaavat sunat kamaavat nihaal. ||2||
Singing, hearing and acting upon it, one is enraptured. ||2||

crx kml isau lwgo mwnu ] (376-15)
charan kamal si-o laago maan.
My mind is attached to the Lord's Lotus Feet.

siqguir qUTY kIno dwnu ]3] (376-15)
satgur toothai keeno daan. ||3||
The True Guru, in His Pleasure, has given this gift. ||3||

nwnk kau guir dIiKAw dIn@ ] (376-16)
naanak ka-o gur deekhi-aa deenH.
Unto Nanak, the Guru has revealed these instructions:

parabh abhinaasee ghat ghat cheenH. ||4||23||
recognize the Imperishable Lord God in each and every heart. ||4||23||

anad binod bharaypur Dhaari-aa.
The All-pervading Lord has established joys and celebrations.

apunaa kaaraj aap savaari-aa. ||1||
He Himself embellishes His own works. ||1||

pUr smgRI pUry Twkur kI ] (376-17)
poor samagree pooray thaakur kee.
Perfect is the Creation of the Perfect Lord Master.

Birpuir Dwir rhI soB jw kI ]1] rhwau ] (376-18)
bharipur Dhaar rahee sobh jaa kee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
His magnificent greatness is totally all-pervading. ||1||Pause||

naam niDhaan jaa kee nirmal so-ay.
His Name is the treasure; His reputation is immaculate.

Awpy krqw Avru n koie ]2] (376-18)
aapay kartaa avar na ko-ay. ||2||
He Himself is the Creator; there is no other. ||2||

jIA jMq siB qw kY hwiQ ] (376-19)
jee-a jant sabh taa kai haath.
All beings and creatures are in His Hands.

riv rihAw pRBu sB kY swiQ ]3] (376-19)
rav rahi-aa parabh sabh kai saath. ||3||
God is pervading in all, and is always with them. ||3||
