pooraa gur pooree banat banaa-ee.
The Perfect Guru has fashioned His perfect fashion.

naanak bhagat milee vadi-aa-ee. ||4||24||
O Nanak, the Lord's devotees are blessed with glorious greatness. ||4||24||

gur kY sbid bnwvhu iehu mnu ] (377-2)
gur kai sabad banaavahu ih man.
I have shaped this mind in the mold of the Guru's Word.

gur kaa darsan sanchahu har Dhan. ||1||
Beholding the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan, I have gathered the wealth of the Lord. ||1||

ootam mat mayrai ridai tooN aa-o.
O sublime understanding, come, enter into my mind,

iDAwvau gwvau gux goivMdw Aiq pRIqm moih lwgY nwau ]1] rhwau ] (377-3)
Dhi-aava-o gaava-o gun govindaa at pareetam mohi laagai naa-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
that I may meditate and sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe, and love so dearly the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause||

iqRpiq AGwvnu swcY nwie ] (377-3)
taripat aghaavan saachai naa-ay.
I am satisfied and satiated by the True Name.

ATsiT mjnu sMq DUrwie ]2] (377-4)
athsath majan sant Dhooraa-ay. ||2||
My cleansing bath at the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage is the dust of the Saints. ||2||

sB mih jwnau krqw eyk ] (377-4)
sabh meh jaan-o kartaa ayk.
I recognize that the One Creator is contained in all.

swDsMgiq imil buiD ibbyk ]3] (377-4)
saaDhsangat mil buDh bibayk. ||3||
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, my understanding is refined. ||3||

dwsu sgl kw Coif AiBmwnu ] (377-5)
daas sagal kaa chhod abhimaan.
I have become the servant of all; I have renounced my ego and pride.

nwnk kau guir dIno dwnu ]4]25] (377-5)
naanak ka-o gur deeno daan. ||4||25||
The Guru has given this gift to Nanak. ||4||25||

buiD pRgws BeI miq pUrI ] (377-6)
buDh pargaas bha-ee mat pooree.
My intellect has been enlightened, and my understanding is perfect.

taa tay binsee durmat dooree. ||1||
Thus my evil-mindedness, which kept me far from Him, has been removed. ||1||

AYsI gurmiq pweIAly ] (377-6)
aisee gurmat paa-ee-alay.
Such are the Teachings which I have received from the Guru;

boodat ghor anDh koop meh niksi-o mayray bhaa-ee ray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
while I was drowning in the pitch black well, I was saved, O my Siblings of Destiny. ||1||Pause||

mahaa agaah agan kaa saagar. gur bohith taaray ratnaagar. ||2||
The Guru is the boat to cross over the totally unfathomable ocean of fire; He is treasure of jewels. ||2||

duqr AMD ibKm ieh mwieAw ] (377-8)
dutar anDh bikham ih maa-i-aa.
This ocean of Maya is dark and treacherous.

gur poorai pargat maarag dikhaa-i-aa. ||3||
The Perfect Guru has revealed the way to cross over it. ||3||

jaap taap kachh ukat na moree.
I do not have the ability to chant or practice intense meditation.

gur naanak sarnaagat toree. ||4||26||
Guru Nanak seeks Your Sanctuary. ||4||26||

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl, Ti-Padas:

hir rsu pIvq sd hI rwqw ] (377-10)
har ras peevat sad hee raataa.
One who drinks in the Lord's sublime essence is forever imbued with it,

Awn rsw iKn mih lih jwqw ] (377-10)
aan rasaa khin meh leh jaataa.
while other essences wear off in an instant.

hir rs ky mwqy min sdw Anµd ] (377-10)
har ras kay maatay man sadaa anand.
Intoxicated with the Lord's sublime essence, the mind is forever in ecstasy.

Awn rsw mih ivAwpY icMd ]1] (377-11)
aan rasaa meh vi-aapai chind. ||1||
Other essences bring only anxiety. ||1||

hir rsu pIvY Almsqu mqvwrw ] (377-11)
har ras peevai almasat matvaaraa.
One who drinks in the Lord's sublime essence, is intoxicated and enraptured;

Awn rsw siB hoCy ry ]1] rhwau ] (377-11)
aan rasaa sabh hochhay ray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
all other essences have no effect. ||1||Pause||

hir rs kI kImiq khI n jwie ] (377-12)
har ras kee keemat kahee na jaa-ay.
The value of the Lord's sublime essence cannot be described.

hir rsu swDU hwit smwie ] (377-12)
har ras saaDhoo haat samaa-ay.
The Lord's sublime essence permeates the homes of the Holy.

lwK krorI imlY n kyh ] (377-12)
laakh karoree milai na kayh.
One may spend thousands and millions, but it cannot be purchased.

ijsih prwpiq iqs hI dyih ]2] (377-13)
jisahi paraapat tis hee deh. ||2||
He alone obtains it, who is so pre-ordained. ||2||

nwnk cwiK Bey ibsmwdu ] (377-13)
naanak chaakh bha-ay bismaad.
Tasting it, Nanak is wonder-struck.

nwnk gur qy AwieAw swdu ] (377-13)
naanak gur tay aa-i-aa saad.
Through the Guru, Nanak has obtained this taste.

eIq aUq kq Coif n jwie ] (377-13)
eet oot kat chhod na jaa-ay.
Here and hereafter, it does not leave him.

nwnk gIDw hir rs mwih ]3]27] (377-14)
naanak geeDhaa har ras maahi. ||3||27||
Nanak is imbued and enraptured with the Lord's subtle essence. ||3||27||

kwmu k®oDu loBu mohu imtwvY CutkY durmiq ApunI DwrI ] (377-14)
kaam kroDh lobh moh mitaavai chhutkai durmat apunee Dhaaree.
If she renounces and eliminates her sexual desire, anger, greed and attachment, and her evil-mindedness and self-conceit as well;

hoie inmwxI syv kmwvih qw pRIqm hovih min ipAwrI ]1] (377-15)
ho-ay nimaanee sayv kamaaveh taa pareetam hoveh man pi-aaree. ||1||
and if, becoming humble, she serves Him, then she becomes dear to her Beloved's Heart. ||1||

suix suMdir swDU bcn auDwrI ] (377-16)
sun sundar saaDhoo bachan uDhaaree.
Listen, O beautiful soul-bride: By the Word of the Holy Saint, you shall be saved.

dUK BUK imtY qyro shsw suK pwvih qUM suKmin nwrI ]1] rhwau ] (377-16)
dookh bhookh mitai tayro sahsaa sukh paavahi tooN sukhman naaree. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Your pain, hunger and doubt shall vanish, and you shall obtain peace, O happy soul-bride. ||1||Pause||

crx pKwir krau gur syvw Awqm suDu ibKu iqAws invwrI ] (377-17)
charan pakhaar kara-o gur sayvaa aatam suDh bikh ti-aas nivaaree.
Washing the Guru's feet, and serving Him, the soul is sanctified, and the thirst for sin is quenched.

dwsn kI hoie dwis dwsrI qw pwvih soBw hir duAwrI ]2] (377-17)
daasan kee ho-ay daas daasree taa paavahi sobhaa har du-aaree. ||2||
If you become the slave of the slave of the Lord's slaves, then you shall obtain honor in the Court of the Lord. ||2||

ihee achaar ihee bi-uhaaraa aagi-aa maan bhagat ho-ay tumHaaree.
This is right conduct, and this is the correct lifestyle, to obey the Command of the Lord's Will; this is your devotional worship.

jo iehu mMqRü kmwvY nwnk so Baujlu pwir auqwrI ]3]28] (377-19)
jo ih mantar kamaavai naanak so bha-ojal paar utaaree. ||3||28||
One who practices this Mantra, O Nanak, swims across the terrifying world-ocean. ||3||28||
